One River is an image of our interconnectedness across space and time. Our ancestors flowed into us, and life will continue the motion beyond our days on the planet. Spirit is the river, body the boat.

With a name taken from anthropologist Wade Davis, One River was founded by Michael Quattrone as a musical outgrowth of his work with Hearthfire, a non-profit organization that creates rituals and retreats with a community of artists, leaders and seekers. "Magic happens when we gather in a circle to mark life's passages with song,” says Quattrone. “And sometimes you invite a record producer who brings a magic of his own."

The eponymous first album features ten original songs in the company of Wolfe Island veterans, Chris Brown, Gregor Beresford, and Tony Scherr. ONE RIVER (Wolfe Island Records, 2018) traces a pilgrimage on the landscape of being, arriving where celebration meets devotion.

Pulling up his gauntlets, dawning his wings and descending from his observational tower, Piers Oolvai soars across the ever-changing horizon to bend expectations. This is the marvellous persona of Nicholas Cooper, bringing out his wise spontaneous queer essence to the fore with minimalistic soundscapes of post-progressive ambiance and avant-garde improvisations, across a spectrum of sweet, awkward, beautiful and nasty intonations with his effected bass clarinet, through extended and effect pedal techniques in tandem. It is a kaleidoscopic experience whenever Piers Oolvai shows the universe the confident powers he rightfully possesses.
