This week we bring you a mix from Madteo – originally from Italy, but based in Queens, New York, where he spends his time searching for 1$ gold in local flea markets and record shops in between producing brilliant tracks that can be found on quality labels such as Meakusma, Morphine and Workshop. 

Madteo's musical output is diverse and rather difficult to categorize – one moment deep, druggy house, the next smoky hip hop beats, but always with a kind of psychedelic, leftfield touch. His Trushmix is equally difficult to categorize, spanning both genres and decades – Whitney Houston mixed into DJ Sotofett, anyone? Almost two years ago we reissued DJ Boom ‘Kinda Kickin’ with an extra Efdemin remix on CURLE-P06D. Because y’all loved it so much, we decided to reissue some more Matthew Herbert deep house goodies. First up is ‘See You On Monday’ from the iconic “Part One” EP – 20 years old but still timeless, and now available digitally for the first time! On remix duties is Linkwood, who released his brilliant “Expressions” album on Firecracker last year. He for one knows how to keep the groove whilst diving deep. The 12" includes limited silk screen artwork - first 300 on transparent vinyl.

ACCIDENTAL RE RELEASE WISHMOUNTAIN'S CLASSIC 'RADIO' ON LIMITED 12" - Monday 10th September

After such an overwhelming positive response to Matthew Herbert’s recent return with the Wishmountain project ‘Tesco’, Accidental records have decided to release this limited run 12” featuring some of the highlights of the original project., including the classic ‘Radio’. 

Radio was originally released on seminal 90's techno label Antiphon records and first championed by Djs such as Sven Vath and Westbam as well as being a club classic for legendary clubs like Fuse in Belgium. The track blasted its way in to nightclubs around the world despite being made only from 8 sounds of a beaten up plastic radio. In many ways it made Matthew's name, as someone ready to bring real and challenging sounds to the largely synthetic soundscape of club music while being unafraid to make people dance at the same time.

Herbert House music fans will not be disappointed by this clutch of rare tracks, available for a short time on vinyl.

Wishmountain - Radio (Limited 12")

I found this old DJ mix on CD while digging around in my basement the other day. I recall that when I listened to it after I had originally recorded it in 2002 that I was completely unhappy with it, and so it never saw the light of day. I listened to it for the first time since then just the other day and realized that it wasn't so bad after all. There's a couple of botched mixes, but they weren't too terrible, and the flow overall is pretty decent. And the tunes are still pretty ok too.

I'm now a little more forgiving of my former DJ skills, so I thought it was worth sharing and archiving this mix. I'm going to try to put the tracklist together, but I don't remember the names of a few of the records right now...that'll take some more digging.

Where the Svek

In 1997 i went together with Adam Beyer and Cari Lekebusch to play at the legendary Twilo club in New York. It was a hot summer and i was playing at the beginning of the night. This special techno party was going on until late in the morning and the techno hungry people was crowding together with the gay regulars. 
The DJ booth was nicely set up but not perfect for a techno DJ. The 1200 was sitting on soft springs making it very difficoult to cue and pitch the records without having the needle skipping. There was a UREI rotary mixer with only volume knobs, quiet different from the early techno mixers we used in europe, like the mighty Rodec. Instead, there was a large isolator with bass, mids and highs on the master channel. The sound guy caught me using it and he immediatly told me to stop using it "don't touch that, it's only for Danny [Tenaglia] !". 
I was happy to receive the first 30 min recorded to a cassette tape by a kind soul on Soundcloud. Twilo closed in may 2001 after problems with the authorities who cited expired certificates as a reason for closure.

Recently found this mix on my harddrive, that I had recorded in 2009, and noticed that I am still deeply in love with this kind of music and the flow of the mix... That's why I decided to share it with you here and now. Back then I was especially affected by the sound of Burial, Matthew Herbert, Innervisions... as you can hear in the mix and read in the playlist. 
Unfortunatetly my previous mixer was not high quality and a bit old, that's why you can hear some kind of rustling in some parts of the set - but I don't care... the mix works, anyway.
