The Middle East has only very recently been depicted as nothing but a warzone, negating and erasing a multiethnic and centuries long history rich with art, music and academia. The current reality is a simple one: people across the Arab world are being subjected to dehumanizing and apartheid conditions at the behest of Western powers.

“From the River to the Sea,” the first collaboration between longtime friends Loris, a first generation Mexican Palestinian, and Wildkatz, a Jewish American, is a clear and simple expression of hope and unity, with the aim of not only continuing to raise awareness, but to also garner a visible solidarity between two inexctricably connected peoples.

Papi Nick León is back to perreo duties with three killer cuts that honour the genre nostalgia and recall those first sonic encounters on the radio when we were kids. Infectious rhythmic programming makes you shake your ass as the world moves towards the end. Bachata riffs á la Romeo Santos penetrate you, while the voices of some of our childhood idols bark loud and clear: andamos con el combo de los rompediscoteka.

But the bellaqueo continues: three other remixes diversify the flow. Henzo delivers a halftime hyperbass banger. King Kelman Duran takes the trip into the oneiric realm with his indelible atmospheric reggaetón. Finally, Maral, shoots a classy downtempo full of roña, rawness and density that should never be missed.

With their extensive mix series and a number of valuable releases, Berlin-based N0FUTUR3 has been on a continuous tastemaking quest to share the latest electronic/club music sounds from Latin America and beyond. Now they're about to add a massive entry to their catalogue and kick off 2023 by releasing a whopping two-volume compilation that gathers 40 (!) tracks from the likes of @bigote_caballito, @n-t-f-l, @djsevenbeatz, @radeco, @emilianodietzgen and many more. Among them is @sandunga, Mexican DJ/producer, who delivered a fast-paced track utilizing elements of a classic bolero tune 'Pena Negra' by the Sonora Santanera band.

El agrosistema mesoamericano conocido como “milpa” es el punto de partida del nuevo trabajo firmado por DJ Fucci. Cada tema toma su nombre de uno de los cultivos que lo conforman. Maiz, chile, frijol y calabaza. El nombre milpa deriva del náhuatl milli, parcela sembrada, y pan, encima, en. Literalmente, “lo que se siembra encima de la parcela”. 

Dando continuidad a “fauna” su primer EP editado por el sello mexicano, DJ Fucci continúa imaginando a qué suenan las referencias endémicas. Temas de club sustentable, que resisten y se sostienen entre ellos. Llamémosle permacultura. Sonidos ricos en significado, inspirados en la naturaleza.
