Loosely based on Akira and Stranger Things, a woman makes contact with a higher dimensional being under mysterious circumstances.

Through the contact, which she - nor anyone - is able to comprehend, she becomes tethered to the unknowable entity. This connection gives her unnatural powers such as telekinesis and teleportation, which are fun at first, but her physical and mental health begin to decline.

As the connection grows stronger her powers also grow, but her body becomes more frail. She gains the power of flight but is soon after hospitalized and placed in hospice care.

She, alone, is able to see the beast or beasts long before they appear floating above the city, affecting weather, casting a shroud over the world, and manifested as a collection of massive, dark, pulsating, headless wyrms. The entity communicates it's name to her and a forming death cult, "Auncheract," but in media the term "Black Veins" is coined.

Scientists speculate that our perception of it is limited to the 4 dimensions we can perceive, and that its true form is beyond our comprehension.
