Insigna - Blade Runner Main Theme 2 (Vangelis Yamaha CS80 Lead) 

This is an excerpt from another recording that came into being while working on some new material for a new album release. This time, it's a bit more ambient, less melodies (huh?), and the CS was run through a Roland PH-830 Stereo Phase Shifter to add some "swirl" to it.
Reverbs and delays used were, among others, a Dynacord DRP-15, Sony DPS-R7/D7/M7, and a Roland SRV-330.

Yamaha CS 80 Improvisation 2

The Blade Runner Blues lead / harmonica patch is one of the most expressive patches Vangelis ever did on the CS-80. Among other things it features sensitive and fine-tuned velocity and aftertouch response, with quite different settings for each of the two synth lines. Since it is not directly derived from the CS-80's preset buttons, as many of his other go-to patches were, and especially because it has so many expressive nuances, it is not a straightforward patch to recreate. 

 After many hours of fine-tuning every possible parameter on the CS-80V3 and much A/B comparison, this is the closest I have gotten. The pad background was created with the Roland VP-03 strings to emulate Vangelis' gorgeous VP330, and some Rhodes flourishes were added.

I tried to recreate that significant sound of a YAMAHA CS-80.... well I don`t know if I reached the goal with that ._.

Blade Runner Lead (CS-80 emulation) demo

In progess demo tracks for Yamaha's V80FD prototype workstation keyboard, from late 1988 (from an old cassette tape if stashed from way back when)

The V80FD engine was essentially two DX7II engines combined with a REX50 effects chip to be Yamaha's flagship workstation.  All sounds in the demos created by "Enhanced DX7" 6 operator sine wave FM synthesis, including all drum and percussion sounds.

The enhancements included expanded per operator Pitch EG's, LFO's, as well as velocity to feedback and negative velocity to Operator output.  In addition, the design incorporated expansion slots intended to add future additional synthesis Plug In boards - i.e. sample playback, etc, as would eventually be included in the CS6x and S80/S90

At the last minute it was shelved as the development of the SY77 was moved forward.
