Anthony Linell's latest suite of tracks cruise and drift with their head up. With a dizzy palette of terse and
winding melodies, 'Sculpting Energy' feels like another new avenue for Linell on his unbreakable run of
EPs.
Drone surveillance-style patterns remain intact this time around, hinting at the unmistakable frozen planes
of his previous works, yet with the opening track there's the smack of bustling heat, as its title 'Therme'
alludes to. The EP's closing piece, 'Vision of the Imminence', presents a familiar sullen theme. Perhaps
the measure of his latest work's difference is in the modulating barbed wire-percussion and birdsongsynths
that wrap the track's cold core?

We are very happy to announce the 13th release of Cabrera with two special remixes from the label boss', J.C., 'Vertigo' record that came out in the summer of 2017. Side A comes with a special Shed rework. Rene is a huge influence for us and we are thrilled to have him on our catalogue. Keeping the essence of the original, he made a proper raw dub techno banger. On the flip side, Kastil, already part of the family, took Nyame in a whole other level and made a fresh blend of fierce techno.

Blankstairs began as a series of all-ages DIY parties spawning from visual artists Nathaniel Young and Warren Mark Way. The events possessed a certain renegade and unhinged energy and, at the time, fulfilled their desire to engage with Portland’s music community.

The events were hosted in art galleries and whatever various alternative spaces were at the two’s disposal at the age of 19. Local visual artists were often presented on the same plane as the musical performances driving the events. In time, the pair found themselves surrounded by friends seeking a suitable platform for their visual and musical output, and thus the label was born.

The first release and compilation in July of 2013 presented a triad of subdued, stoned-out jams and somber ambient music, alongside club constructions of various shapes and sizes. Fast forwarding to the present finds Nathaniel and Warren both based out of New York and continuing to release music that represents the artists that are immediately involved in their lives –– the label being an expression of that which surrounds them.

In celebration of six years of operations Blankstairs is excited to issue a three part compilation featuring work from artists based in both spiritual homes for the label –– Cascadia and New York City, a selection that we feel is an accurate representation from Blankstairs friends and family both near and far.

The release features 16 original tracks, including renown artists Kwartz, Christian Wünsch, Zadig and Claudio PRC among others. The physical version consists of a CD enclosed in a 76 pages publication with uncanny photographs by Leonardo Scotti and Louis De Belle, cleverly put together alongside graphic interventions by artist Domenico Romeo.
