Ending the year with an awesome mix by @FlxK1, a Berlin-based DJ, producer, and label honcho. His perspective has been a big inspiration in the music scene since the late '90s, from killer work on various labels to unforgettable performances.

This mix is a shout-out to 25 years of Hidden Hawaii and 10 years of Nullpunkt Recordings. Some of it you could hear at our London party in August 2023. Big thanks to Felix for this mix, and here's to many more awesome releases in the future.

Sarkawt Hamad is a DJ whose sets strike a rare balance: they are melodic and grooving narratives that activate a dancefloor’s collective body, but also press the dancer to really listen, to hear a wild range of textures, timbres, bliss and grit. With a fully-rounded sound ranging from leftfield- and dub-techno to sparkling house to breakbeat-derived bumpers, the sum total is a kind of mesmerizing sublime – both eerie and blissful, alien and loving. Threads of vocal samples are often woven in and out, and pivots from chugging bass to bright and weightless terrains animate the seamless progression. In the artist’s own words, each set is built as a layering of moods and dynamics.

Neska digs deep to craft sets that enchant and surprise. The Basque-born DJ and producer with roots in classical, jazz and punk music, masterfully blends genres to create captivating psychedelic musical experiences. Currently based in Amsterdam via Barcelona, she has performed at Spanish festivals like Sónar and Primavera Sound as well as Dutch renowned clubs including Garage Noord, Lofi and RAUM. Out of the booth, she curates fauna & flora, a cutting-edge multidisciplinary event merging electronic music and art installations and hosts Neskafe, a new music radar show residency on Echobox Radio Amsterdam.

Berlin-based vocalist and producer J. Wiltshire crafts his own enchanting brand of ambient, electro and breakbeat techno which has come through on releases for Hypercolour, Musar Recordings and Black Orpheus.

He's also one of the minds behind Super Hexagon, the Leeds-based label that was spawned out of the club night of the same name. Now their focus is firmly on releases, and since its inception four years ago it's been a platform for both J. Wiltshire and fellow co-founder Alma Construct to share their own music, as well as instalments from the likes of Aldrich, FFT and Lårry.

Following a return to Musar earlier this year with his Resa EP, he steps up for this week's Ransom Note mix, bringing a taste of the influences that steer his own production...
