Hannes Bieger - Tephra 

Hannes Bieger (@hannesbieger) is one of Europe’s most in-demand mixing engineers, working for some of the biggest names in the business. With such a wealth of experience, it’s no surprise to anyone that his own productions are every bit as beautifully constructed as his high profile clients. Dropping this three tracker on 2nd home Poker Flat, Bieger gives a lesson in tech house dynamics.

Title track 'Tephra' is a true proposition - urgent, skittering drums with deep bass pulses pepper the track, while a delirious lead takes things into epic territory - a track that exists to send chills up the spine of dancers and listeners alike.

'Didyme' is cut from similar cloth - perfectly balanced elements create a whole that far outstrips its minimal elements. Arpeggiated synths sit low in the mix before a lead brings shades of rave into focus.

Rounding out the release, 'Galeras' is more of a heads down affair - tough and funky drums set the pace while bass tones and fragments of melody provide the late night vibe.

What we have here is the new episode of our Exclusive Mix series crafted for you by DOMPE, aka Dominic Wagner - the dope DJ & producer with finest Tech-House Sounds made in Berlin. 

By his own words, the mix is about the GROOVE:
"As always, actually. I tried to tell a little story about the 60 minutes from disco funk to house to techno. Difficult but possible in 60 minutes. I wanted to cover everything from House to Techno. I picked out the tracks but didn't think about the exact order, that came spontaneously. Everything I like from Deep House to Techno. It has to be groovy, that's the most important thing for me. It doesn't have anything to do with house or techno. Techno can also be groovy and funky. that doesn't exclude itself.

As with every mix, my own standards are very high. I mix every podcast myself, which means I put myself in the studio for 60 minutes and mix it as if I were playing in a club. I find podcast / mixes made in Ableton absolutely boring, because the most important thing is the DJ's handiwork is completely lost. You can compare a podcast with a warm-up set in a club. Start relaxed and then improve."
