Finally!

At long last, after quite a few requests, here's the follow-up to my 1st mix for House Dance Forever, which i did back in January 2018, over the years re-titled to "HOUSE MUSIC WILL NEVER DIE", from here-on shortened to HMWND.

This 2nd installment harbours 15 jammies; ranging from Garage to Techno to Afro House to Deeper Cuts to Gospel, as House Music embodies so many different styles and/or feelings, it would be a waste to stay in one pocket. 

Here's a good moment for a tiny disclaimer: this isn't your proper background house music, as I felt like incorporating a few tracks I tore up some dance floors with over the years (and myself too in the process), so at certain points the stuff goes. At least you're warned ;).

Lastly, but surely not least: this mix is dedicated to the memory of Phil Asher, who sadly left this planet in January 2021, and since The Great Reset was in full effect at the time, I never got around to do a proper tribute to the good man.  The two gems "Revolution = Solution" & the remix to Lisa Shaw's "Always" are done by him, the latter as a member of the Restless Soul collective. Phlash Forever!

For the ninth installment in our Just For The Night series, selectors take you on their own journey through groove. Anything goes.

Dust Down Records invites Javi Frias, a madrileño disco afficionado & firm favourite of ours. He began collecting and playing records as a young ‘soul boy' at the end of the nineties in his hometown Madrid & you can find his edits & reworks on labels like Street Edits, Tropical Disco Records & Midnight Riot.

In 2017 he started his own label Night Shift Records, devoted to edits and reworks of disco and house. He's part of the mysterious Disco Pocho label too, focused on the soul and funk side of the disco edit.

He's also resident DJ & booker of Discotizer, one of the finest disco, boogie and house parties in Spain (currently at El Sotano), where he has shared the decks with names like Louie Vega, Dave Lee, Danny Krivit, Rahaan, Eddie C, Faze Action, Mr. Mendel, & more.

The London duo share the same sense of musical discovery that first united them on the dance floors of Shoom and Spectrum and the Balearic playground of Ibiza way back when. Now they find themselves in the thick of the SB mix series. 

“We’d describe the mix as ‘Moving forwards with a nod to our roots’. As always with X-Press 2 the idea was to try and include music that’s new and exciting to us, played alongside some of our productions as well as dipping back into the past and adding some inspirational flavours to the pot. We like to spend some time thinking about the programming of a mix, working out some sort of flow so that the finished blend makes sense.”
