Tharuis Guadalupe also known as “The Poet” hails out of Bronx, New York is a Soulful & Deep House music DJ, inspiring producer, and a house music enthusiast. What started his electronic dance music journey was spending weekends at his brothers house simply recording dance tracks and making mix tapes on cassette tapes from local radio shows for his own personal enjoyment. Later this would ignite his spirit far beyond understanding. What started off as a hobby became a bigger part of his life as he got older, but nothing worth sharing. Later he soon started falling deeper in love with the music and wanted others to feel that same connection. Soon after The Poet ventured off into self teaching the craft of mixing through various music genre under the house music umbrella; from Classic house all the way down to deep, soulful, Nu Disco house, and disco, he knew that the relationship with body, mind, and soul were of one. Constantly connecting with like minded individuals who share this unique love for house music, The Poet understands that House music isn’t just a genre of music, but a spiritual feeling we all share differently and strive to generate through every musical element shared.

1) Tell us a bit about yourself and your record collection.

Hello guys, my name is Eugene Rockwell, currently living in Cologne, Germany. Started collecting records ca. ten years ago, at a time where I was heavy into Bboying, dancing a lot at Jams and spinning on my head. 
Now I’m djing different things like (club) parties, dance-competitions, workshops, also producing music and co-running with two friends the new record label “Amikron Records”. Check by the way our very first debut 12” EP under the alias “Ruhrmann & Rockwell”, official out 15th July on Bandcamp. 

2) 45/7 is all about celebrating the 7". Can you tell us a bit about what you love about the format?

Most of the time I love the handiness of them. All my local gigs at bars I play with 45's, one packed bag is more than enough for a whole night to play different genres, vibes, moods and sure-shots. Plus, a lot of songs are released as a limited 7" only, this makes the collectors-aspect more interesting and special. 

3) One hour of vinyl goodness... can you talk us through your selection for your 45/7 mix?

The idea of doing a 7" House-related mix existed for me already for some time and combining it with the 45/7 Vinyl Club series makes it even more sense in doing so, to highlight an uncommon way of releasing this kind of music on 7”. While shifting my focus on digging into House 45's I was able to find different styles and treasures. This is how the selection naturally grew and came together.
Starting with a modern-kind of sound I went then into Soulful House, going after that more deeper with an electronic touch, then into some (afro) percussion driven House to finally ending it with a classic Vocal style. Mixing and blending those transitions into a constant flow of 60 minutes was somehow hard but all in all a super-fun way.
