Gcina Sawuka is a photographic artist who specializes in images of the living world.He was Born in South Africa,Gautend ( Soweto ) in 1989,Gcina Sawuka first used the camera to document life in Soweto.He co-founded one of Soweto’s photographic and Online Magazine,Art Entertainment Magazine with the use of digital techniques.

In His early 18's he began photographing,and within a short time he had swapped his established township career for the precarious life in Soweto.Gcina Sawuka’s concern for the environment is strongly evident in his images.He strives to capture the human's spirit, and blur the lines separating different species.His photographs of people reveal a compassionate understanding of his subjects,evident in his photos Living Soweto and Trading Places. 

He has inspired community members with his work, ,Gcina Sawuka had a number of exhibitions,The free outdoor exhibitions, promoting environmental issues, are major events staged in conjunction with his circle,and attract visitor numbers in the hundreds.

Gcina Sawuka frequently reinvents his creative approach to his work. In the 2000's he discovered the process of morphing images into each other,long before such techniques became popular on the computer.His work in (JHB) Soweto,poignant and edgy,reveals the feeling of a Township on the cusp of change;placing Sawuka among the select few photographers who caught the mood of the time.

His venture into photography was a continuation of his exploration of different genres of photography,and it struck a chord with the general public.His goal was to use images to communicate with the masses,and take photography exhibitions outside galleries but in the street.This was done in spectacular art with the publication,and the staging of major outdoor exhibitions "The Art Of Rolling Camera's.The exhibition has been seen by Hundreds of people in eleven Johannesburg.In Soweto, more than 157 visitors were officially counted during the year end run.
