When William Johnson’s parents gave him a beat machine at the age of five, he stayed up for hours experimenting with rhythms and melodies.  Eighteen years later, the Prince George, VA native is better known to the DMV as Tre Live and is still going strong in the business of creating innovative hip hop.  The artist and producer, winner of a 2013 DMV Life Showcase, is now garnering attention beyond his home county.  His fusion beats are featured by many rising artists in the DC area and the familiar chant of “Treeeee Liiiive” is never far behind whenever he steps on stage.

The duality of the boy from the country now doing his thing in the most powerful city in the World is captured in Tre Live’s music where 90’s jams meet new school and sophisticated messaging meets raw celebration.  Tre Live’s sophomore effort “Furlough Friday” showcases Tre Live’s maturation as an artist and man.  The production is crisper, the lyrical ability is more refined, but the energy is as infectious as ever.  Inspired by the 2013 federal furloughs, “Furlough Friday” features tales about personal growth and responsibility such as the poignant “2 Keys” and “Found A Road.”  Of course, it wouldn’t be a Tre Live album without his signature party tracks so let Tre know if “you’re good to go.”
