Distant Touch is Ashley MacLaughlin, a British born psytrance producer and DJ based between South Africa and the UK and signed to Timecode Records. Ashley’s production and DJ style is a combination of full-on, groovy, dirty, fractal psychedelic beats encompassing a hybrid of both daytime and night time styles. His musical background began at the age of 8 when he started to learn to play the guitar. At the age of 17 he was playing trance in London clubs and small squat parties and started to write his own music in 2004 at the age of 19. 

Since moving to South Africa in January 2009 he has performed both live sets and DJ sets regularly at various parties including Vortex, The Village, Astral Afrika and Cryptic Symmetry amongst others, as well as returning home regularly to play in his home country and Europe. 

He has shared the stage alongside some of the premier acts in the global scene as well as playing various back to back DJ sets with some of the biggest trance DJs in the UK and South Africa. 

Ashley has also released a number of EPs and had tracks featured on numerous compilations as well as working with various influential producers on a number of collaborations internationally and has various side projects also currently gathering momentum.

It blends dub, glitchop, and downtempo with organic samples for a dynamic, natural sound. He has performed at major festivals both locally and internationally. This set represents a significant step in recognizing the importance of having space on the main stages of events for styles like Psychill, which complement and diversify the psytrance experience for the audience.

This set was the synthesis of a long-standing desire to present a selection of the most precious on the Progressive Chillout line, with songs ranging from 90 to 120 bpm, with evident bass and spatial atmospheres.
