This six variety EP from our boy Pelikann is a total breath of fresh air for UK bass music. The releases leading track ‘Shakedown’ opens the EP with some epic synth work and stabs before bursting into a high pitched wobble over a tasty break beat. Next up is ‘Badboy Sound’ which features a violent blast of sonic savageness that only the baddest of man can handle. Stepping up for remix duties is Affiliate with an innovative take on the original bringing a technical melody to the nastiness complete with a haunting atmosphere. The final single on the EP, entitled ‘Calm It’, opens with a luscious future style intro before completely juxtaposing the chilled vibe with a brutal sliding drone supported by a pounding 808. Rho then ramps up the tempo with a beautifully crafted drum and bass remix staying true to the future vibe yet kicking up a right stink with a ridiculously rude bass line booming through razor sharp drums. To close the release, Data3 switches up ‘Spectre’ with a nasty drum and bass remix of Pelikann’s original released on Saucy Selections: Vol 3. If this EP doesn’t make you shake down it will at least leave you shaking your head in awe of the creativity and craftsmanship that has gone into these tunes.
