ProtoCode has been releasing cutting-edge bass music from across the globe since 2018. This July, the Perth-based imprint is set to release "Cybernetics", a collaborative offering from label 
co-founders Esym & Dead Zodiac.

Between them, the two have released music on labels such as Kill Tomorrow, Santoku Records 
and Cyberfunk; but "Cybernetics" marks their first releases on ProtoCode in just over a year; 
following on from Esym's "Universe / Desolation" & Dead Zodiac's "The Fall", the two of which 
dropped back in March 2020."Cybernetics" features three Drum & Bass gems that easily 
balance screwface inducing sonics, deft melody work and precise rhythmic patterns.
EP opener and title track "Cybernetics" kicks off with an ominous melody that gives way to a 
regal brass riff before launching into heavyweight bass lines. Basslines that feel primed to tear 
up sound systems worldwide. The track conjures up imagery of rain falling on a neon-lit 
cityscape, with the serene melody that glides among the rumbling low-end amplifying the sci-fi 
feeling of "Cybernetics".
Next up is "Dominion". Here, an intricate rhythm section underpins warbling bass, sure to get 
limbs moving when dropped in a dance. The minimalism of "Interference" closes out
proceedings. Its power comes from bass hits that pulsate throughout the track, while Esym & 
Dead Zodiac showcase more of their impressive rhythmic work with technical percussion lines 
that shine throughout the track.
"Cybernetics" will land 30th July exclusively to Spotify and Beatport, releasing on a wide range 
of digital outlets 13th August.

The quickly climbing UK based producer, Artifact, drops two room-rattling Neurofunk tunes to mark his first appearance with the Nocid Business brand. Mind bending beats with a captivating ethos is common territory for Artifact and this release lives up to that expectation.

Kickstarting the EP is ‘Unleashed’, a wild track bursting with energy driven by buzzing bass and dark pads that set the ominous tone. This industrial monster is a hard one so prepare to feel the weight of its disposition.

Second on the EP is ‘Dystopia’, a dark techy track that punches with incisive drums and crunchy bass that billows out into the airwaves. This entrancing piece bridges the gap between the robotic and the organic with twanged string melodies, hollow hand drums, and glitched chants engulfed by snarling patches. With an ever-changing presence you may as well keep this one on repeat.

Dean Rodell and Current Value blend drum & bass, techno and ‘machine step’ into their Machine Code alias, and are proud to present their new Projection release. The Berlin-based duo have combined their talents for labels such as Eatbrain, C4C, Badtaste and Subsistenz, with the new music seeing the light on Othercide Records.

With over two decades’ worth of experience between them, Dean and Value operate their own Subdivision Studio in Berlin, blasting out hit after hit across the d&b, dubstep and techno genres, and beyond. The title cut busts and blasts its way into existence, strange samples leading the way. Insistent, futuristic beats slide over the top, setting you up for something big. The track moves through a range of levels, as the producers open up more and more, accessing new sounds and emotions. This is serious, cutting edge music, and a fantastic start to the EP. 

The Germ follows suit, with deep bass already obvious in the intro, before all hell breaks loose at the drop. Twisted, twisting samples and effects pour themselves in and out of the mix, as a haunting melody line turns and shifts, rising and falling. Shining and shimmering, don’t lose the real meaning of this one - it’s a killer.
Infiltrating is the first track on Side B. This one builds up, levelling out with some explosive beats and equally enticing low end. 

Let the infection take over your being, as Dean Rodell and Current Value take
￼￼things to the next level. And closing things out is the Machine Code remix of Artificial Organism by Homeboy. Here, the track opens with electronic flashes, a ticking beat and a steady sense of anticipation. This is paid off by a fantastic drop, after which the true genius of the remix is slowly uncovered, via a spine chilling breakdown and rebuild.

Not for the faint-hearted, Projection is serious. A must-have.
