Slinky, a new album from The Fear Ratio, the collaborative project of Mark Broom and James Ruskin, is forthcoming on Tresor Records. In their first outing since They Can't Be Saved, released on Skam in 2020, they enlist British rapper King Kashmere, who features on two tracks. Where James Ruskin has appeared on Tresor Records for his seminal albums Point 2, Into Submission, The Dash and his recent Siklikal EP, the only appearance of Mark Broom on the label is a 2002 remix of The Golden Apple by Eddie "Flashin" Fowlkes. The duo unveiled this new work and collaboration with King Kashmere in a live show for a 30th Anniversary event for Tresor Berlin televised on Arte, performing amidst a battery of lights and fogged-up refraction. It demonstrated their rough-hewn fundamentals, roving melodies and investigative power, newly advanced by voice. 

Death Switch is the first appearance by King Kashmere, savaging questions on segregation and suffering, encoding into our brains the much-repeated refrain - "You wanna know, why they wanna flip the death switch". Spinning Globe captures Kashmere in a gritty flow over a swaggering beat, bouncing and resonant. This unsanded voice lends an enhanced texture and tension to the highly-processed sonic palette of Broom and Ruskin, accumulating with innate mettle.

Elsewhere, Appi dredges depths as widescreen beats lurk, digital artefacts pave the way to a hauntingly melancholic coda. Lacovset features singer Ella Fleur who has worked with Mark Broom on his solo release F&uuml;nfzig. It enacts a pointillist gated vocal alongside dolphin-like percussive communications. On LFIVE, the duo embalms their sonic textures with digital effects that flutter austerely with syncopation in the crosswind of a beat that recalibrates at points. An urgency slowly draws in on title track Slinky through fizzing electronics and fractured drums all corroded. Effem locates a semblance of euphoria, with a trance-inducing release led by swirling arpeggios. Closer KZAP finds the calmest moment on the record, with its wafting, nebulous synths and swamped hip hop beat. 

Slinky finds an ever-evolving project, The Fear Ratio shapeshifting by bringing in the voice into their work and continually pushing with their incredibly-effected rhythmic styles and peculiar, wandering synthesis.

AM Hi is a DJ and a promoter, active on local and regional scene since 2017.  His sets are characterised by a performative, dynamic character and intensity, driven by emotions and sex drive as an external stimulus. AM Hi is also one of the founders of the Belgrade Rave Squad, and their goal is connecting non-established artists in the region, and creating a platform for their further development. In 2019, AM Hi moved to Belgrade, where he became one of the residents of SUTRA / СУТРА crew, who he works with ever since. In the last year, AM Hi had the honours to Close festival Grounded in Ljubljana 2021 (Also playing in 2022, b2b with N/OBE), HÖR Berlin, club Drugstore. He shared the decks with many great DJs (Vladimir Dubyshkin, LSDXOXO, Klangkuenstler, aya, DJ YTP, ABADIR, BAMBII, Rama,...) Since 2020, he had a monthly podcast, where he worked with some of his favourite names: Ancestral Vision, Miss Jay, Warrego Valles, Rempit Goddess and many more.

There's only one word for this vintage release from D-Knox (Donnell Knox), and that's blistering.

'The Body of Christ EP' was originally released in 1997 as the first 12" on Magic Trax – the label created by Tom Robbins to coincide with his Magic Feet fanzine. The EP delivers four magnificently tough workouts of raw techno from a master of the genre.

A few rare vinyl copies of the original 12″ will be resurfacing, alongside a digital release via Donnell’s own Sonic Mind label on September 26, which marks the first time that these tracks will be available for download and streaming.

We couldn't think of a more fitting artist to take on our 222nd episode than the born-and-raised Amsterdam producer and DJ Yb3L. She is a multidisciplinary artist who’s exploring the fields of electronic music, visual art and graphic design. In her productions, she combines experimental breaks with ambient textures and heartfelt synths, with a debut out on Traumgarten's V/A Virgin Forest. 
Alongside her own projects, she is co-running Sann Odea, a small independent record label set up as a creative platform for new artists. With the label, she created the perfect opportunity to represent her vision of new sounds as well as visual art.

Her DJ sets range from breakbeats and pumping techno to organic rhythms and experimental brain melters and this one follows that mindset ritualistically. In our most humble of opinions; what more can you want for all your ADE pre-party shenanigans?

PETRU is a Corsican-born producer and live performer with a love for bold, driving techno and storytelling. Blending rhythmic precision with a strong sense of narrative and contrast, his music evokes both physical intensity and cinematic depth.

Rooted in hands-on, expressive, hardware-centric production, PETRU was awarded with the Richie Hawtin PhD Scholarship in Electronic Music for his ongoing research into real-time and improvisational performance.

After drawing attention with his debut KSS EP, PETRU released Mirage EP (City Wall Records) and Mediocracy EP (Kolibri Space Shuttle Records), both receiving great acclaim. At midnight, on March 13th 1991, a basement door opened at Leipziger Strasse 126, Berlin. Through this door, many passed, on their way to defining new terrains in electronic music. There they found a dance floor in the vaults of a closed-down department store, with a unique sound bound to dense fog, building night after night a history that was also a vision of the future. 

This history has seen in Jeff Mills’ first sets on three turntables, Underground Resistance's first live appearances in Europe, grandiose Tresor Park parties, to various chapters of the Loveparade with Sven Väth in the 90s and since then countless generation-spanning parties. These moments represent the highlights of infinite personal clubbing experiences. It is the manifestation of the Berlin spirit, emerging from its considerable strife. This history is not without its complications - from temporary closure by the authorities and several raids in the early years to closure and demolition of the old location in 2005. What followed was years of wandering in exile and, finally, resurrection in the new home in Kraftwerk Berlin.

These stories, conversations and shared experiences within our walls forge a resilience that drives towards a shared ideal, the Tresor sound: community, resistance, and the world to come. This was observed in the newly re-unified German youth, who danced and celebrated together from the club’s inception, and into the present day through ongoing community work in Detroit. 

Tresor Records was founded in the same year and began to serve as a platform for exporting the new sounds associated with Tresor all around the world. Emergent musicians from Michigan, such as Juan Atkins, Underground Resistance and Drexciya, were pivotal in shaping these early years. Their visits to Berlin would kick-start dialogue between the youth movement in Europe and these musicians. This story is one of friendship and community-building, inextricably linked with cities like Detroit, Birmingham or Edinburgh, where like-minded friends built something truly special, where revelatory rhythms soundtrack decaying industry in corrupted metropoles. 

Tresor Records has been the fertile soil for dozens upon dozens of creative minds, from the very luminaries of the scene who developed electronic music over the last three decades through to contemporary protagonists who are currently defining the sound of the future -  A more than 300 strong catalogue displays an unmistakable identity - the Tresor spirit.

To those that have danced before, and to those that will dance in the future: the light at the end of the long Tresor tunnel is a signal. A flicker amidst the fog. This is our future. This is our place.
