Treve series 98 with something a bit different exploring Trip/Hip Hop and Electronica chill vibes with Ron Koss (@renancordonnier)

Back in 2002, Ron Koss laid his hands on a turntable for the first time. It was love at first sight, and the beginning of a long love affair. He quickly composed with what he had, buying a control room and a bin of hardcore vinyl. He got his teeth into partying at a number of events in East of France, drawing inspiration from his elders. 
Scratching was already part of his sound, and he tried to enrich his sets by combining the various techniques he'd worked on in his basement.
 At the end of the 2000s, he caught the Electro tek and minimal wave head-on and found a new style to pursue. 
Around 2015, he began working in greater depth on turntablism and tried his hand at DJ routines, trying to combine creativity and technique. 
At the same time, he is working on more hip hop, trip hop and electronica-oriented sets. His watchword is “eclecticism”. In 2021, with his partner Lucile, he created the association Les Grat' Disques to pass on his passion to young people and to serve the heritage of djaying. 
In 2023, he joins the SKEÜD collective and its techno and hard music nights. 

For this podcast, we travel between soothing trip hop and cerebral Electronica. A multi-faceted DJ set with exciting artists to discover 
Thriftworks , Yppah, Andy Cato, and Synkro spiced with a few scratches.

TREVE series 96 - Babytanuki (Tustance)

This week we welcome the founder of Submersive Records, Bevel.
He has been active on the Deep-Techno scene since 2013 through his label, productions and dj sets.
Inspired by the hypnotic beauty of the underwater depths, his music evokes dark, captivating landscapes where organic sonorities, raw textures and rave-cut rhythms invite us to tip over into a timeless space.
 Like a gradual plunge into the abyss, his productions and sets invite us to let go, to slowly pull away from the surface and sink into a space where silence amplifies sounds, gestures slow down and bodies soften.
The dancefloor then becomes an immersive place of physical experience of sound, where moments of tension and fragility follow one another in the service of emotions conducive to introspection.
It's a vision of Techno that he's been defending for over 10 years through his label's various releases and podcasts, and his appearances and residencies at the Batofar, Social Club, La Machine du Moulin Rouge, DV1, Glazart, HÖR, etc.

This week we welcome Alfred co-founder of the Evolove label, Alfred's music delivers a palette of moods and colors oscillating between great depths and lofty atmospheres.
His desire to share transcendent musical experiences is reflected in his productions and DJ sets by the presence of precise grooves borrowed from minimal and hypnotic techno, but also from ambient, noise and bass music influences for a psychedelic and elegant journey in collective harmony in his universe.

Owl (@owlfromdeepspace) is a Belgian electronic music producer who started producing under the alias Glÿph with his friend Clearlight and also under the alias OZOH.

In 2013, Owl wanted to expand his musical vision and push the boundaries of his creativity. This led him to delve into new sonic territories, capturing the attention of labels such as Nord Label, Silent Season, Lowless, Huinali, DNO, and re:st. His distinctive sound began to resonate within the electronic music community, setting the stage for his continued evolution as an artist.

Owl’s aptitude for creating subtle, lush sonic journeys keeps expanding and his last releases should further cement his reputation. The artist’s discography is in perpetual evolution : from autonomic dnb, deep techno to a dreamy & melancholy ambient journey.

TF #066: Agnosia [Dust Rec] - Spain

Agnosia, a duo formed by Eric and Miguel, producers with a long way behind the decks and productions.  Started on music scene 7 years ago, My Bloody Valentine, Joy Division, Slowdive or Explosions in the sky are some of the inspirations of his personal “vision” of music. Now, with this project, they want to explore the atmospheric side of music.  Always walking between techno, shoegaze or post-rock, they started to produce 5 years ago, trying to show his personal way of music.

The music of Agnosia wants to innovate in the techno fields, adding some new ways with new elements and architectures in the compositions they do. Progressive to the end tracks, forcefulness and deep kicks and basslines, and some guitar distortions and effects to made epic the melodies they build.
Now, they have published his first Album on Dust REC. “Motion and Emotion”, focused in the experimentation with drones, textures and atmospheres but mixed with really forcefulness hypnotic grooves they will drive us crazy. 

"What’s happening? It's warm inside... She told me a reason, a reason to live. 

Where are my echoes? The rainfall from my friends, the pain fades into atmospheres, the void it’s comfortable, and me... I’m losing my head."

The Forgotten LXVI: Agnosia

ROD is the incarnation of Dutch multi talent Benny Rodrigues. For the last four years it is a moniker that has found the Dutchman exploring supple, fulsome techno sounds with a healthy dose of funk. To date his functional characterful EPs have come on labels like Klockworks, Field Records and CLR. Intense and absorbing, it is music that’s informed by a rich tradition but that never sounds pastiche. His DJ sets are equally aimless affairs, and so it is that we tapped him up for our next podcast. 

Just over an hour in length, the mix is a serene, tripped out and intergalactic one full of slithering electro lines and dreamy pads. There is a fluidity throughout the first half that comes only after years of practice, and even when things grow more physical and frazzled, acid laced and macho in the latter stages, there is still a great sense of control. It might be Monday, but sounds like this will surely have you out of your chair in no time. edo

The running water and the standing stone, 
The yellow haze of the willow and the black

Campfire Stories 31 (A Spell Before Winter) by Warmth

Born in Spain, Juan Rico is a DJ who has rapidly attained the recognition other artists have taken a long time to gain. He marks his birth as a DJ about 1997, but it wasn’t until his first release in 2002 under the Swedish label Emergence that he became known professionally.  He has shown his quality skills recording for emerging imprints like Pole Recordings, Wolfskuil Records, and his very own Architectural label. 

The set, nearly two hours long was recorded at Bassiani as part of the Wolfskuil Records Night. It's a well-executed mix that focuses especially on the dark, ambient textures, crosscut with hints of hypnotic Dub techno. 
Displaying his impeccable taste in music, Architectural crosses varied musical fields, offers deep and adventurous mix contrasted with dancefloor edge.

Lett Records Podcast I - Sanjib

The Belgian musician Daniel Danieli ,working under other aliases including d162, In a Left Place & Leinad, is a selftaught music lover and producer. He first started out as a drummer and played with a live band before he found his passion for all things electronic around 2004. 

With his Daniel[i] moniker he represents two aspects of his production: repetition and meditation. A perfect match for the next DSS. Under this motto he recently started his own label, Whispering Signals, with Feral, Wa Wu We (Sebastian Mullaert), Illuvia and the man himself on the first VA 12”.

After a small delay, we're happy to finally share @michalwolski 's contribution to DSS. The Polish artist is an expert in deep electronics to say at least. We strongly advise to check his last record on @boddika's Non Plus records. 

We appreciate the effort Michal has put into this mix. It took several tries, and it payed off.

Native from the middle French land, vinyls activist from 2000’s ending, A.Silentio started to make music to work one’s way up on his local scene before to be part of the new young Parisian’s scene with the Moebius/Drom group.
Based in Lyon, he was the first head of Partition Libre team, who have made some shit with some artist such as Kangding Ray, Neel, Korridor, Mike Parker, Dimi Angélis, VSK or Takaaki Itoh just to name some of them.
From 2016, he's a part of the Château Perché Festival and Perchépolis label as resident artist and A.D, and one of the two head under the Ultra collectiv, based in Lyon.

Art Bei Ton Podcast 032: Sabine Hoffmann

For the 32nd episode of our podcast series, we are very happy to great the Berlin-based DJ Sabine Hoffmann.

Playing last summer at our Ambient open air Art Bei Ton x Waxing Phases, she brings us, through her Ambient/Techno set, to meditate between some atmospheric and cosmic vibes.

Sabine was born and raised in Berlin. She grew up listening to a diverse array of hip hop, soul, funk and crossover beats. Sabine discovered her passion for spinning vinyl around the early 2000’s, when she was first exposed to electronic music. She plays a deep blend of techno, electro, Chicago & Detroit house with nuggets of acid, funk and breakbeats rolled in.

But regardless of the style, you will always find Sabine playing vinyl only sets as she prefers the warmth of analog sounds and the classic feel of turntables. She has played at almost all the leading clubs in Berlin such as About Blank, Salon zur wilden Renate, Berghain Kantine, Griessmühle, IPSE, Farbfernseher, Golden Gate, Arena Club and the list goes on. Her international profile has been steadily increasing, she already played in Tbilisi, Paris, Baku, Yerevan, Krakow and Thessaloniki to name a few.

Sabine is the founder of “Frauengedeck”. It´s an event series focusing on an all female line up. She wants to support and present female DJs. She has held many events at different clubs throughout Berlin like Wilde Renate, Griessmühle, Farbfernseher and Beate Uwe. The first international events outside of Germany, were held in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia other country's will soon follow.

Since 2016 Sabine works at the well known OYE record shop in Berlin. She is also hosting a monthly Frauengedeck livestream, which is streamed from the OYE record shop.

She finished her Audio Engineering studies at SAE. Inspired by her gained knowledge, she started putting her focus on music production. The first result, a collaboration with No Mad Ronin is available on the label Zaijenroots.

We feel absolutely blessed to welcome Adelia on Cellar Door. The Prague born and Barcelona based  DJ started her career with a heavier and darker techno sounds, however she quickly gravitated towards the deep and hypnotic sphere.

Getting inspired by the Spanish nature, she has  been brilliantly pursuing  the gurgling sound and representing it on some of the most interesting mixing platforms (Oslated, Charybdis, Fur:ther Sessions etc.)

Techno hit Japan hard in the early 1990s. Surprised, Takaaki Itoh was quickly impressed and intrigued with this new sound. The unique style of beats revealed the gateway to a new world of underground music in Japan – something he had never heard before. Surprise slowly gave way to addiction when Takaaki Itoh was exposed to the sounds of such artists and labels as Underground Resistance, Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Hardfloor, Sven V?, Harthouse, Warp and Rising High. This was his sound, and deciding he just couldn’t get enough of it, in 1994 Takaaki began to organize his own techno parties in his home of northern Japan. By providing a fantastic lineup, his parties quickly became a success.
