Oreste learned very early the need to develop his sense of curiosity, expressing himself through the medium of art. After searching for a long time to find the right way to do so, he finally found his path when he discovered the beautiful and endless depth of ambient electronic music.

Deeply inspired by this fantastic musical microcosm, his desire to contribute to it shapes his ethereal sound and aesthetic.

For the 33th, we are please to have the duo of female artists from Macedonia Binary Thouhts (@binarythoughts)

An electronic music duo from Macedonia, currently based in Skopje. The name Binary Thoughts may speak for itself, but there is a much deeper meaning embedded within.

The ancestral way of thinking has always been 'binary'. To understand nature and all its phenomena, we made a world of oppositions (day/night, sun/moon, male/female). Where the law of "all or nothing” rules, there is no in-between. But the reality is indeed always more complex and more interconnected than what our 'perception' of the world suggests.

This perception beyond this “all or nothing” connected Ana Bogatinovska and Jovana Gjorgievska. At first strangers to each other, they met at a music festival in their native country; And after a long discussion about electronic music, they've decided to do a project that will connect their somewhat different but similar taste in electronic music.

Their melancholic, delicate, and hypnotic sounds use 'binary thinking' as a motor to press on to a third term or a higher category that represents a transcending reconciliation or unity: where thesis and antithesis are always harnessed to yield a synthesis. Where seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary: Yin and Yang.

At Navigare Audio we believe in creating our own traditions and rituals. As the earth has circled around the sun for another round we decided to once again start the new year with a ambient podcast as the first chapter and set of 2023. And this time it's very personal: 

"Let’s travel back in time, to an insanely hot afternoon at the backstage camp of Ozora Festival in 2018. While heading out of the camp for another spontaneous adventure under the sun an excited Greg Hunter comes up to me and tells me that he wants to introduce me to someone. A friendly man, middle aged, and with a UK accent, stretches out his hand and says “Hi, I’m Matt”. Confused by the excited looks around me I quickly dig into long forgotten corners of my memory. “Matt, Matt, Matt? Matt who? Should I know this guy?” When the penny finally drops I burst out “Ishq!” and can’t help but give him my warmest hug and thank him as sincerely as I possibly can. For all the beauty, and for all the blissful and comforting moments throughout half a lifetime. Starstruck and clumsy, yes, but as honest and pure as the music you’re about to listen to. 

While “Orchid” would be the eternal point of reference for most of us, that must’ve soundtracked gazillions of psychedelic comedowns over the last two decades, it’s only a small fragment of the sonic treasures waiting to be discovered for the curious explorer. From the mid 90’s technoid experiments with the late Jake Stephenson (that deservedly was re-released on Transmigration in 2019), through the dreamy, infinitely beautiful ambient he is most known for, to the lush, nature loving soundscapes on his label Virtual, there’s really no other musician you need to guide you through the beyond within. Ishq, meaning “love” in various Middle Eastern and Northern African languages, is a master of his craft, pacifying and healing our souls in a corrupt and stressful environment like no one else.

ARTIST'S BIO:
Originally from Galati and currently based in Brasov, near the Carpathian Mountains, Ștefan Stîncescu, under the DJ name Kethal, uses tactful ways of mixing rhythms while bringing stories and tales to our ears and vibrations. He started mixing from the age of 17 and was first introduced to clubs before that. About 1 year later, he had already discovered the Progressive, Trance and Techno music along with their sub-genres and started mixing in a club where he met artists from the Electronic Music scene, mostly the same genres. He hold residencies in 2 clubs from different cities, in both playing and mixing with all types of music but with a quest to better his skills. After experimenting with the previous residencies, while shifting through types of music, he went completely in 2010 diving into House and micro Techno music for a discovery journey which lasted 8 years, until his comeback to Techno. Thereafter his exploration of diverse vibrations and frequencies he managed to create unique styles. A blend of dynamic and distinct sound while playing at Minimal parties. An interfusion of organic spaces, deep and hypnotic rhythms when mixing at Techno gatherings, with the purpose of raising the collective consciousness. Inspired by mountains and organic algorithms.
