Carla is a mixed indigenous artist, born and raised in the high desert of New Mexico. Her childhood was immersed in live music growing up around a recording studio and professional guitarist father. Once she discovered raves in the desert around the late 90’s- early 00’s, it sealed her fate of true connection to freedom felt dancing with the unifying energy of a heavy drum beat. She started promoting and throwing dance events in her community. After coming to San Francisco and falling in love with the Bay Area, she began creating music and djing became her soul focus. 

She has been called a lineage holder because of her vivacious focus exclusively on the vinyl/analog format and artform of turntablism. Her skill is precision and the results are pure magic translated to a dance floor. A live performance by an artist who uses their actual ear to beat match instead of pushing a sync button is a rarity today, especially in a sea washed with technology and AI where quality in art is sacrificed for convenience. For the love of music and this culture Carla has committed her heart to vinyl and teaching others.

Producing music since 2006 and djing since 2009 her style ranges from house, acid, techno, break-beat, jungle/dnb and even into downtempo, ambient, experimental noise. Her sounds could be better described as esoteric, underground, syncopated & psychedelic. With cactus prickly pear as her backbone and red chile in her blood, she weaves messages about decolonization in her art and music. From working in a record store to hosting a vinyl radio show Carla has been a part of the dance community in many ways. The last few years have been a compression of creativity, hardwork and never ending days/nights in her music studio on drum machines, synths and hardware. Sonic lift-off is almost here with @disco-soldier records coming soon centering DIY artists and vinyl!

Wadströmmer is a devoted vinyl digger whose sets flow effortlessly between house and techno, weaving timeless grooves with deep, driving energy.

As a producer, DJ & label owner Cosmin Nicolae’s dedication to developing a rich and wholly personal artistic landscape provides the driving force behind one of dance music’s most unique & industrious individuals.

Opening the door on Hessle Audio over a decade ago - an outlet that has gone on to become a defining voice within electronic music in the 21st Century, Nicolae’s list of affiliations reads like a who’s who of top tier contemporary dance music record labels. Appearances on Amsterdam’s Rush Hour and Gerd Janson’s Running Back, as well as a brace of singles alongside LP’s Gordian and Simulat on the now defunct 50 Weapons - not to mention work for Semantica and Bleep, have cemented Cosmin TRG deep in the psyche of the ever shifting amoeba that is the dance music zeitgeist.

In many ways, what lies at the heart of Nicolae’s work - beyond the extraordinary pairing of high end sound design and club functionality, is an innate ability to bind his discography - to create a streamlined sonic vision without compromise, one that moves with purpose and vigour outwards to explore in depth structures that exist on the very periphery of House & Techno, Ambient & experimental electronics - but maintain a unique and recognisable finish. Few artists could boast a discography that marries 2016’s ubiquitous In Your Body, an anthemic spoken- word-meets-Tool-Techno leviathan released via Nicolae’s own club-focused Sportiv outlet, with Semnal - a gloriously executed LP of shifting, otherworldly Experimental music delivered under the artist’s given name via the Opal Tapes label.

Cult concept missive Hope This Finds You Well, Nicolae’s 2019 reflection on corporate culture furthers this same dichotomy - a stunning wide-angle Ambient LP on Fizic - the label operated by the artist as a home to more conceptual iterations, that followed hot on the footsteps of a remix for Bpitch founder Ellen Alien & the fourth instalment on Sportiv - both offerings heady club constructions in their own right.

On the road, both DJ sets and live performances mirror this healthy sentiment - with Nicolae as comfortable on main stages showcasing his take on hyper-modern propulsive Techno, as he is presenting the low slung avant-garde preoccupations of his more leftfield alias’. There’s the constant feeling that both these practices feed back into one another, and that from each respective vantage point, Cosmin TRG is able to make the kind of dynamic & intuitive artistic decisions that few can - keeping his work fresh & current without concession - ceding to his own desire to further his vision as a creator of sonic abstraction without losing sight of the dance floor.

Zul (Subvert HQ, Singapore) has been DJing and promoting parties in the Lion City since the 1990s, performing along side the likes of Goldie, Joe Syntax, dBridge, DJ Friction, Stamina MC, John B, A-Sides, Pendulum, Cyantific, Sonic, London Elektricity as well as Logistics and Hospital Records' Chris Goss.  Gigs-wise, its gone from Hong Kong (he spent time with the White Label crew in 2001), Jakarta to London (Hospitality at Shoreditch, UK) with bits of radio (MediaCorp Radio's Lush 99.5FM Clubscape sessions, to be exact) and a release on Take Off Records squeezed in between. Zul also keeps it cutting edge away from the dance floor with the Subvert Sessions Podcast (download via subverthq.blogspot.sg), blending together leftfield and idiosyncratic beats of the 170bpm variety.
