On 1st December 2020, the sensor array platform of the Arecibo Radio Telescope in Puerto Rico came crashing down, destroying its huge reflector dish below and bringing a sorrowful end to a once magnificent piece of engineering. This is my tribute to the Arecibo Observatory and the continued search for answers among the stars. I hope you will enjoy it!

Butterfly

My first composition with wind instruments, and it was an extremely refreshing experience and a distraction from composing strictly with a piano the last few years.
The main theme itself is a long ago composed simple keyboard theme that I've always kept close at heart. 
I've rarely left B minor in this piece, save from some chromatic sections and D Major/ E minor restatements and an new F-sharp major and minor theme in the quasi development section.
I've tried to give prominence/independece to every instrument in different section, but since I know next to nothing about wind instruments, I probably made a ton of stylistic errors.
All in all, I've very pleased with how this piece turned out, it has a certain rustic or medieval feel to it, coupled with few sections that feel, at least to me, dark-folkloric or even eldritch.

Our song for Litha, aka the Summer Solstice, is part of our album The Windmill of the Year. It celebrates Bridie, the overlighting Divine Feminine spirit of the land of Avalon. She is also the bride of the Lord of Summer, who we first introduced in our song Beltane (hear that here: https://soundcloud.com/annie-dieu-le-veut/beltane) 

The word “Solstice” means "Sun stands still” in Latin, as it appears to do, for three days, at both the Summer and Winter Solstices. At the Summer Solstice, around the 21st of June in the northern hemisphere, the North Pole is turned the most towards the sun, providing us here with the longest day of sunshine of the year.

Accepted by Spacey Panda and Ogi Feel the Beat is a mindset. It's something for zoning in, chilling out for a few minutes, and winding down after some high brain activity, overthinking, or hard work. 
Definitely something worth listening to before going to sleep too. The combination of two different styles leads the listener into a special zone and transcends time.

"Herself Forgotten" by Jeremias Langsämmer is a masterful piano composition that immerses listeners in a chilling horror experience. The track opens with an insistent, sinister ostinato that sets an eerie and foreboding tone. This repetitive motif, played in the lower register of the piano, establishes a haunting atmosphere that grips the listener with an unshakeable sense of dread.

As the piece progresses, layers of dissonant harmonies and sharp, sporadic high notes heighten the tension, evoking the unsettling unpredictability of a horror scenario. The music then transitions into a deceptive midsection, where the disquieting motifs give way to a more peaceful and serene passage. Here, gentle arpeggios and soothing harmonies create a false sense of security, lulling the listener into a momentary calm.

However, this tranquility is short-lived as the sinister ostinato returns with renewed intensity.
