I love falling asleep to these creatures whenever I go visit my grandpa ^^

i miss hearing these guys, all the trees nearby got cut down, so now i cant hear them in the spring and summer.

Binaural recording of the Pacific Spirit Forest near the last Spanish Banks concession stand, on July 8, 2023. The are 8 separate recordings from different parts of the forest along various trails. I started at the bottom near the remediated salmon stream, then went up for a while, then West, up again, West and back down, then East, then down to the starting point.

The main soundtrack this time of year is the Swainson's Thrush which has that spiralling-up sound. But of course many other birds can be heard. At the beginning there are crows, including baby ones. I also heard flycatchers, nuthatches, chickadees, wrens, and sparrows. 

There are lots of cars and planes. It's amazing how many planes are always passing overhead. It used to really bother me when I was recording. Now I figure that's just the truth of it. It's still really nice to be in the forest no matter what. My hearing mind emphasizes the birds.

An excerpt from today's (July 28, 2023) recording under the Ironworker's Memorial Second Narrows Crossing bridge in Vancouver, BC. 

Protect your ears first! But listen as loud as is comfortable for you. A lot of the energy you see in the wave form is low frequency, which uses a lot of amplitude for how loud it sounds. Binaural recordings sound best with headphones.

Recorded with a Røde NT-SF1 ambisonic mic into a Sound Devices MixPre 6 II recorder. Processed with the Røde's SoundField plugin to B-Format(AmbiX), then rendered to binaural with Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics' Adaptive Binaural Decoder.
