We blinked and it’s been four years since Ilario Alicante’s last EP on Drumcode. Back in 2017, he contributed the excellent four-tracker ‘Figures & Echoes’, but has
never been far from Adam Beyer’s mind, having regularly played alongside one another at Cocoon Ibiza. The Italian’s stripped back sound gets under your skin, both purposeful and hypnotic. With ‘Rave Soul’, he’s added extra colour to the palette, imbuing the work with bags of sentimentality and jubilation as we collectively return to the dancefloor.

The EP opens with ‘Rave Atlas’, which is propelled by plenty of old school effects and a dynamic vibe. ‘Again’ asks “who were you with last night” and packs a trippy after-hours energy. ‘Rave Soul’, continues with the throwback style of ‘Rave Atlas’ and hammers like a 90s warehouse party, driven by insistent piano stabs.

The Sweden-born, Germany-based DJ/producer brings together two chunky house tracks featuring his own vocals, as well as an additional instrumental of the B side.
"I made these two tracks particularly for Trick. When producing ‘Infatuate’ I went back to the basics. A Phat analog groove, and my voice filtered up and down. I have had the chance to play this one out a few times and the reactions have been amazing. ‘Step By Step’ on the other hand was inspired by an old hi-nrg/disco track that I always loved. This one has loads of power, and is rave hammer certified!"

Opening with 'Rough Rider' rubbery bass and tough kicks are soon joined by crisp hats and evolving side-chained pads. Add in some Jamaican Dub adlibs and you have all the ingredients for a Spiteri stadium rocker! 'Can You Feel It' is a deep vibe but no less rolling.
