Amidst a vast lattice of cable & wire, a sole individual worked with inhuman fervour at his craft, bearing forth a constant flow of invention unto the dismal depths of his laboratory. He had sequestered himself here in this catacomb of creation with single-minded purpose, devoted entirely to a code of his own as he endeavoured towards all that had not been done before. Without thought for life or limb he set himself frantically to his craft. Before him, every vial was an opportunity, every electrical surge a moment of bliss, and every elemental synthesis a pathway forwards into the unknown.

For weeks, months, and even years the individual worked at a feverish pace, a hermit within an ever growing den of discarded reagents and the husks of former inventions repurposed for a greater cause. For all of his creations, such time alone had begun to take its toll upon the man, and as it marched on new thoughts came to his mind. “Escape....” came first, “I must show them the way” then came second, bearing upon him with an inescapable force. With his frenzy now turned outwards the inventor burst forth from the doors of his laboratory, clutching a variety of inventions in his grasp. Bathed in the light of the world beyond, the inventor sprinted into the street, shouting of his miracles as his SANITY TRIP drove his feet.

NUKLEAR debuts his first full artist EP on EATBRAIN with SANITY TRIP. Long known as a premiere MC within the neurofunk scene, NUKLEAR has appeared on multiple collaborations across EATBRAIN as well as RAM Records, Virus, and Viper. Having survived the treacherous path that now lay behind them, a group of ardent adventurers found themselves before the gates of a great temple, shrouded in mists atop the highest peak in their land. From within rang out a titanic voice that shook the earth with its every word, permeating the very souls of those who stood before the gate. “Hear me, supplicants to this temple” rang its initial call, “Know that you tread upon the grounds of Snake Monastery, and that you shall face many tests and trials should you seek to proceed in whatever quest hath brought you here. You now face the LAVA RUN, and should you hope to continue you must prove your worth.” These words the voice left to echo throughout the mountain peaks as the adventurers set to the task before with utmost resolve. Utilizing every ounce of their combined might, they heaved open the doors to the great temple, which shuddered open to reveal a most terrifying sight. Approaching unstoppably towards them was a boulder of titanic size, seemingly unseated from its pedestal by the gate’s monumental motion. With practiced synchronicity the adventurers sprang into action, preparing to meet the boulder head on in the midst of its fast approaching onslaught. Yet, at the last moment before their inevitable collision, one amongst the adventurers raised a single fist and struck with all of their might at the boulder’s core. With nary a second remaining before it would have crushed the party beneath its incomprehensible mass, the boulder was reduced to naught but dust, and the path forwards through the temple lay open. “It seems you are indeed of the strength to continue,” came the voice from within “but brawn alone will not grant you admittance to the Snake Monastery’s inner sanctum. Continue further, if you are truly worthy, and face the next trial!”

GYDRA return to EATBRAIN with their latest single, LAVA RUN. Following a dearth of releases across labels such as Bad Taste Recordings, C4C Recordings, EATBRAIN, and their own label Neuropunk Recordings, GYDRA’s latest single sees the duo displaying the raw force of their sonic capabilities at maximum capacity as they seek to discover who amongst the EATBRAIN horde is strong enough to complete this trial and those yet to come.

The fires of the NEUROPUNK FORGE alight once more with the arrival of the WARHEAD EP, the latest release from rising Russian duo DESPERSION on NEUROPUNK RECORDS. Established in 2017, the duo have seen previous releases on a variety of labels including Ignescent, 0101 and Kill Tomorrow, within which they have displayed their development of a style that blends complex melodic motifs with aggressive percussive and bassline sequences for a synthesis formed of these two often disparate sounds. Now making their NEUROPUNK RECORDS debut, DESPERSION deliver four tracks in this signature style to create the latest set of auditory weapons straight from the NEUROPUNK FORGE.

Opened by the minor chords and arpeggios of the title track of the same name, the WARHEAD EP quickly erupts with low end weight leavened by the interspersion of melodic reprisals of its opening theme. The deceptively named PEACE which follows provides a slice of scathing neurofunk marked by the tonalities of the distorted hornlike synth that blasts above its rapidly moving bassline. OFFENSIVE next delivers an explosive barrage of transient percussive impacts that fall with perfectly planned precision amongst the tracks chaotic upper atmosphere. Closing the EP is I NEED YOU NOW, which departs from the hard charging energy of its predecessors to deliver a flowing vocal cut emblematic of DESPERSION’s melodic abilities.

With the WARHEAD EP, DESPERSION deliver a dynamic debut on NEUROPUNK RECORDS, showing a deft ability to craft beautiful melodic sequences and works of utmost sonic aggression in equal measure, marking themselves as a duo to watch as they emerge from the NEUROPUNK FORGE.
