Detroit's Jon Gaiser and Dublin's Gavin Lynch, aka Matador, are producers and live performers from Richie Hawtin's Minus label. They are also monthly residents at Hawtin's ENTER night at Space in Ibiza. Playing an hour each on this Essential Mix, both sets were recorded live in the studio on keyboards, laptops and controllers and feature exclusive unreleased material.

Warming up The Laundry Courtyard for Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann—what an honour! ✨ Huge thanks to Nergal and The Laundry for the booking. If you know me, you know how much I love setting the tone for the party —building the energy slowly, weaving in the deeper, weirder stuff before handing it over to the headliner. This was one of my favourite sets ever, and I had an absolute ball playing! Seeing so many friends on the dancefloor made it even better.

'Retrospectivo' contains each of their original releases, com- plemented by a host of exceptional remixes from other key figures in the scene. The CDs were preceded by warmly welcomed new reissues of Terra and Fuego, stretching out over a luxurious 2+ hours of prime techno. 'Diablo' kicks things off, sounding as fresh as the day it was unleashed in 2008, and is accompanied by the Carlo Lio remix that pushes its muscular driving vibe into a new territory. Dios also appears with the rework from Jon Gaiser, via his Atheists Anonymous Remix, crystallizing the original’s 10 minute form into a taut, powerful six minutes of dance floor gold. The new track 'Humano' appears here in four glorious versions from the original via newer interpretations from Hatzler, SHADED’s Summer Skin Remix and the Victor Ruiz mix.

Kicking off CD2, 'Fuego' burns as brightly as ever with additional heat added by Julian Jeweil’s masterful remix, while 'Terra' gets the treatment by the ever dependable Joseph Capriati. Three different mixes each of 'Aire' and 'Agua' complete the package, with the combined talents of Matador, Peter Dundov and Detroit’s own Carl Craig rounding off the compilation in particu- larly fine style.

Both Dubfire and Oliver Huntemann have pursued their own paths that have seen them reach dizzying heights within the techno world, but these recordings and their expertly curated reworks will remain a benchmark for many.

As a special bonus, both the digital version and the Double-CD (via a download code) include an hour-long 'Retrospectivo'-mix by Dubfire & Oliver Huntemann.

Vor einiger Zeit spielten @austrianapparel bei einem Techno Sonntag in der Arena in Wien und lernten dort @atlantik kennen, die regelmäßig im Berliner Club @sisyphos-berlin spielen. „Und die haben uns einfach empfohlen“, erzählt das österreichische Duo. „Die machen auch so live, und da mag man sich eben. Mittlerweile war es schon unser dritter Gig im Sysiphos und es war wiedermal herrlich.“ Ihr gesamtes Equipment war natürlich dabei, und „wir haben wie immer ohne Laptop 100 % live abgerockt." (...)

The BPM Festival Podcast 091: Neverdogs (Afterhours Mix Part 1)

LENSKE’s first release by Farrago, “Risin”, comes packing high velocity punches, including a collaboration with Amelie Lens and a remix from Kobosil. The EP’s A side is packed near 12 minutes of crisp machine driven techno with Farrago’s rattling peak-time “The Riddler” being the first to puncture. The title track, “Risin”, will only be released as the Kobosil remix, a titanium tour of auditory horrors, which also borrows from the EP’s other tracks. Lens’ signature sultry vocal samples on the B side’s “Jealousy” draw the contours of a jaw grinding banger, while “Hidden Power” rounds out the release with a blaring dance floor siren encased in exquisitely unpredictable arrangement. Trinity is a DJ, live performer and producer based in Sydney. Now celebrating her 20th year in the music industry, Trinity has earned the respect and love of fans, dancers and peers from Sydney to Berlin — and many destinations in between. Her abundant and diverse talents, her famous work ethic, and her uncompromising musical vision have made her a force to be reckoned with in the world of techno.

Trinity was billed alongside Richie Hawtin at the Vivid Sydney festival at Sydney Opera House; headlined Sydney’s world-famous Mardi Gras celebration; and has played at Tresor, Tomorrowland and many other clubs and festivals across Europe. Other stops on her musical travels have included New Zealand, India and Amsterdam’s famed Red Light Radio.

Each of Trinity’s live shows is marked by her unique versatility: from deep dub-techno, acid and electro to peaktime techno — all combining for a distinct and moving soundscape. Trinity is also one-half of boundary-breaking live act Phax Machine (along with partner Analogue Resistance), with the duo focusing especially on tougher breakbeat and classic rave sounds. 

Trinity’s recorded output includes collaborations with Luke Hess, Eric Cloutier, Headless Horseman and XDB, with her releases making their way into some of the best record shops in the world including Berlin’s Hard Wax. Trinity also runs A&R for Australian techno label Nightime Drama.

After taking a break from DJing and performing during the pandemic to focus on running her business and parenting, Trinity is back — with a focus on quality over quantity and the same dedication and musical integrity as ever.
