"I'm Dave Stuart and I'm that DJ/Record Store owner & event promoter from Sydney. I've plied my 'craft' through the best & worst times on Sydney's nightlife and I'm still as passionate about what I do as the night I first set foot in a DJ booth.
Every part of searching for music to stock at our shop, finding tracks to fit in my DJ sets, and figuring out which DJ's to book & when for our events gives me reason and purpose and I enjoy every second of it.

As a DJ I love the deeper dub cuts of records, and most of my DJ sets show this side of me, for those of your that like to categorise things via genres then feel free to pigeon hole me as a DJ that plays dub techno, minimal house, tech house, deep house, and techno.... so yes all the bollocks.
But I try as best I can to adhere to some sound advise that a DJ much better than myself once gave me; “it's not what you play, it's when and how you play it”. And that simple sentence has influenced how I approach my DJ'ing. Aside from playing in Sydney for what seems like forever I regularly visit Europe to play and have been known to play in the usual haunts including; Tresor, Globus, Salon Zur Wilden Renate, Golden Gate, Chalet and Griessmuehle, Secktor, Dresden, & more.

When it comes to events I have been running in parties in Sydney for over a decade and am co-founder of Something Else, which has somehow managed to stay running (mostly in a weekly format) since 2014 but we've been around longer than than in other guises....Something Else has a house & techno vibe and again if you need to know names..... we've had the likes of DJ's like; Vlad Arapasu / Ada Kaleh, Silat Beksi, Eric Cloutier, Vril (Delsin/Giegling) Patrice Scott, Sistrum, DJ DEEP, Deeply Rooted, Norman, Nodge, Ostgut Ton, Answer Code Request.... you get the idea right?

In 2018 Something Else expanded and opened a record store under the same name, Something Else Records is based in Sydney's suburb of Newtown and is focused primarily on similar sounds that you would find at the Something Else and similar like mind parties around Sydney. Something Else Records proudly carries exclusively electronic music across the house, techno and electro spectrum."

After a lengthy hiatus, we have released the 20th edition of our podcast series, featuring Nightime Drama’s, Trinity!

This one-hour mix encapsulates Trinity’s style of deep, hypnotic, hard techno, from a selection of both new and unreleased material.

Trinity is a DJ, live performer and producer based in Eora/Sydney.  Now celebrating her 20th year in the music industry, Trinity has earned the respect and love of fans, dancers and peers from Sydney to Berlin — and many destinations in between. Her abundant and diverse talents, her famous work ethic, and her uncompromising musical vision have made her a force to be reckoned with in the world of techno.

Trinity was billed alongside Richie Hawtin at the Vivid Sydney festival at Sydney Opera House; headlined Sydney’s world-famous Mardi Gras celebration; and has played at Tresor, Tomorrowland and many other clubs and festivals across Europe. Other stops on her musical travels have included New Zealand, India and Amsterdam’s famed Red Light Radio.

Each of Trinity’s live shows is marked by her unique versatility: from deep dub-techno, acid and electro to peak-time techno — all combining for a distinct and moving soundscape. Trinity is also one-half of boundary-breaking live act Phax Machine (along with partner Analogue Resistance), with the duo focusing especially on tougher breakbeat and classic rave sounds. 

Trinity’s recorded output includes collaborations with Luke Hess, Eric Cloutier, Headless Horseman and XDB, with her releases making their way into some of the best record shops in the world including Berlin’s Hard Wax. Trinity also runs A&R for the Australian techno label Nightime Drama.

After taking a break from DJing and performing during the pandemic to focus on running her business and parenting, Trinity is back — with a focus on quality over quantity and the same dedication and musical integrity as ever.

A couple of notes:

1. I cannot find any expression online, by any artist in this mix that implies their support for the genocide of Palestinians
2. The Brian Eno/David Byrne track includes a sample from a song by Samira Tewfik, called Hobak Mor. The lyrics from the sample are:

3. Wildfires by Sault is about police brutality and the consistent murder of people of colour by police in the USA. I feel the sentiment also applies to the Israeli occupation of Palestine, and the continued violence/murder inflicted on the Palestinan people. Lyrics like, ‘We all know it was murder, murder, murder’; and ‘I will always rise’ to reflect the fierceness of the Palestinian people and deep connection to their land
4. Rebuild a Nation by Damon Locks, Black Monument Ensemble, for me is a call out to people power. The current system is not working! Governments all around the world are out of touch! 
Dismantle imperialist, white supremacist, capitalist and patriarchal systems!

I recorded this mix on stolen land; on Darkinjung country. Always Was Always Will Be, Aboriginal Land!

Trinity is a DJ, live performer and producer who divides her time between Sydney and Berlin. 

She currently handles A&R and events for Australian techno label Nightime Drama.   As a performer, she was billed alongside Richie Hawtin as part of the Vivid Sydney festival at Sydney Opera House; and she has played at Tresor, Tomorrowland and many other clubs and festivals across Europe. Trinity is also a longtime guiding force on the Sydney underground, producing parties featuring artists and DJs including Steffi, Artefakt, Peter Van Hoesen, Steffi and Eli Verveine.  

Thanks to her famous work ethic and many long days and nights in the studio, Trinity’s recorded output keeps growing, and includes collaborations with Luke Hess, Eric Cloutier, Headless Horseman and XDB. Her recent vinyl EP ‘Adrifting Voyage’ in collaboration with Steven Tang made its way into some of the best record shops including Hardwax, and her debut full-length album Blinded by 1000 Points of Light (in collaboration with John Tzineris) was received with critical acclaim.

For the 42nd instalment of the Mosaic Mix Series we head down under for a heady mix of deep and dubby cuts from Australian DJ, Dave Stuart. 

Describing himself as a “ DJ / Record Store owner & event promoter from Sydney” Dave has been a mainstay in the local scene for many years. He has been running in parties in Sydney for over a decade and is a co-founder of Something Else, a project that has invited the likes of Norman Nodge, Answer Code Request  and DJ Deep, amongst many others,  to play.

After having polished her craft by playing at some of the most iconic clubs and festivals in the world such as Tresor and Tomorrowland, Trinity brings with her a unique versatility that flows through myriad genres of techno, acid as well as electro. 

We were lucky enough to have her in support of Regis at UNDISCLOSED 23.0, where she recorded this set live that we now bring to you.

Trinity & Beyond is a collaboration between of Trinity and John Tzineris. Trinity is known as one of Australia’s most highly regarded female artists, and performs as both a DJ and live act, while Tzineris brings to the production table studies in classical music composition acquired at Sydney’s Conservatorium of Music.
