Ik heb het idee dat dit een van de beste liefdesliederen is welke ooit is geschreven, dit omdat het gedicht en het lied zo inzoomt op de existentiele kenmerken van de liefde. Je hoort er Wilde’s each man kills the thing he loves in doorklinken, maar dan de verbeterde versie: Anne-Fleurs stem die vol verlangen spreekt over het wissen van de ander, met die ‘romige oogjes’, een van de beste alliteratieve constructies die in het Nederlands te vinden zijn, met die dubbel laag, waarin zowel de fascistische rijk en de boter doorheen klinken. Je zou misschien denken dat daar geen verwantschap tussen bestaat, maar het onstaan van de massa-agricultuur en de uitbuiting van levende wezens gingen natuurlijk hand in hand.

Daarnaast is er het hele veroveringsaspect van de liefde, dat hier aan het uitgummen/ het creatieve proces wordt gekoppeld. Hij wil je veroveren, maar jij wilt hem daarom juist uitgummen, bindingsangst en bindingsdrang verenigen zich in dezelfde beweging.

Bart and Baker (www.bartandbaker.com) are two venerable Parisian DJ/Producers, dressed in tuxedos and hi hats. There are many dj’s playing retro style music but what makes Bart&Baker so unique is that they were the first back in 2005 to be able to mix old records with new, remix and revive old 1920’s music, scratching 1940’s and 50’s tracks and generally making new dance/house music from a vintage source. 

As Bart&Baker says, “we pride ourselves on reinvention, using elements that already exist like vintage music, burlesque performance styles and costume so we were able to please or uncover the vintage music shades of rhythms to both vintage fans and modern kids”. 

•	The duo has released 8 CDs through Wagram Music since 2005 and sold around 200 000 copies worldwide.
•	Signed to the Parisian Label Entouka they have released in 2012 8 digital EPs, selling around 30 000 tracks though legal platform and streaming website. They have been listed in the Beatport 100 for 4 of their remix in 2012 including a Top 20 for the KeX remix of Communications.
•	More than 600 000 listens on soundcloud since 2011.
•	Their various video have hit nearly 1 000 000 views on Youtube
•	They have provided remixes for the likes of Dimitri From Paris, Gabin, Parov Stelar (label) or electro swing stars Caravan Palace.
•	Since 2005, residencies in Parisian Clubs like Machine du Moulin Rouge, Regine’s, Flèche d’Or, Divan du Monde, Favela Chic, ….

Melting Records is pleased to snag and reissue the rare album Five Finger Discount from Budapest-based producer Nándor Kürtössy, known here as Savages. Originally released in 2008 in a limited fashion and only on compact disc, the album has been sought after by hip hop and trip hop heads alike. Melting Records has now issued this classic album for the first time on vinyl and is ready to give these tracks the wide audience they deserve.

Nándor Kürtössy is a prolific producer, behind many projects like Kovacs, Savages y Suefo, and Vega Ass, and is also the founder of his own Hungarian electronic music label, Mana Mana Records. Five Finger Discount was Nándor’s first release, born from the previous few years of sessions creating tracks for himself and his friends. Encouraged to collect these cuts onto an album, Savages was created and this remarkable album revealed. Its legend has grown since the initial release with some considering Five Finger Discount a classic of eastern European hip hop culture. The album track “You’re My Chocolate” has since become quite popular among the Greek downtempo DJ scene.

The melancholic guitars and tranquil atmosphere of “You’re My Chocolate” are indeed special, and its languid beats lead the listener through an evocative journey told through sound. This cut is indicative of Savages’ vibe and is only one of the highlights on this jam-packed album. Cuts like “Lookin’ For You”, “Long Distances”, and “The Blow” also captivate by combining hip hop, vintage lounge, and dance floor appeal into a heady, sample-rich stew. Nándor’s sense of humor is also evident throughout as spoken snippets and spy-crafted rhythms intermingle within the playful arrangements. Savages is on point … and this Five Finger Discount is a hefty bargain.
