"This mix was closing Supercamp festival’s last ever edition, from 6 to 8pm on a sunday. Therefore we thought we do a reverse journey of intensity, starting with 140 pressure taking our time to slow all the way down to 120 during the 2hours - hitting 130 with mellow dub techno cuts or classic-feel ukg, and ending with a series of (very) warm closing tracks upon closing tracks. We could not imagine a more fitting Podcast Series contribution to soundtrack the peak of our of summer than this lush dubby mix recorded by the New York via Chicago DJ & productress Eden Aurelius 🦋

Back in April last year, the inaugural record on the Glaswegian label co:clear lands in the crates at Phonica Records and it steals the show. It was the debut release by Eden Aurelius titled ‘Plateau’ with it’s soft-edged downtempo take on dub techno dancing through clouds of ambient textures and perfectly embodying that netherworld in between ambient and dance music that is the beating heart of Introspective Electronics. Over a year later, we are so grateful and proud to have Eden feature on our Podcast Series with this stunning hour-long recording 💕

Nothing else to do now but to plunge into the dubwise depths of this magick mix where tender energy ebbs and flows in the spaces between not-quite-ambient and not-quite dance. It’s in the liminal space of the soft cracks in between. Aren’t you curious to hear? ✨

"little sounds in huge expansive spaces"

This mix was my musical extrapolation of this quote. As I put together the tracks in the mix, the idea of small sounds in big spaces became more metaphysical, as a metaphor for memory and nostalgia. Small, seemingly insignificant events in our past can expand in significance over time, informed by our experiences later on in life, and with our emotions acting as a tool of reverberation, extending their presence in our lives far past their time of occurrence. What begun as a process of selecting tracks that quite literally feature "small sounds in big spaces" soon morphed into a dig into my distant past, to nearly 20 years ago when I first started learning to DJ. I pulled from the mnml tracks that had an important influence on my formative years, their impact can still be heard in the contemporary tracks I play today, all of them bouncing next to each other in this nearly 2hr musical collage.
