Eyes-down heavyweight steppers await as the ROOTPLATE lathe-cut series continues its steady flow of conscious sound system music with the third 10" release. Cut onto mesmerising transparent vinyl by the famed Pressure Mastering studio, this limited edition of 60 pieces welcomes none other than https://soundcloud.com/alphasteppa (UK) to the Tripedal Crow Records family. The next-generation Dub champion has long made a name for himself through the Dub dynasty family venture and his own productions and thriving label Steppas Records. On the other side, label owner and prolific artist https://soundcloud.com/jahyu takes on the controls with equal musical prowess and sound system meditation style.

Flowing and crashing with a driving force, 'Be Water' projects reflective vocal samples into the radiant ambience, taking shape as it moves along the pulse of JahYu's crystal-clean percussion and menacing melodies. Basslines like a raging waterfall, enchanting flute and string intermezzos keep the pace - vibrations to uplift your mind, body and soul. Opening the gates to Valhalla, Alpha Steppa guides into vast depths of reverberating brass instrument harmonies, leaving it behind to make way for a new Dub order. Surging through a regenerative half-time beat, distant choirs intermingle with bespoke glitches and authentic percussion. The ensuing four-to-the-floor Dub armament gives the bass section of the sound system a proper work-out, calling for a collective state of trance on the dancefloor as much as at home.

ZamZam 49 is an absolute stormer from Leeds-based Ryan Wild AKA J.Sparrow.  Well-known to dubstep heads worldwide, it is an absolute pleasure to present this massive reggae sound system stepper.

A pounding kick, majestic horns and the powerful chanting of Iration Steppas’ Dan Man anchor “This A Sound” from the first drumroll.  A masterclass in less-is-more aesthetics, the subsequent layering of nimble hats, cutting snare, subtle guitar and bubbling bass only serve somehow to give the impression of more space, even while ramping up the intensity and power of the tune.

“This A Version” Strips back the horns and voice, opening up reverb-drenched wells of darkness, a primal and mesmerizing space for dancers and meditators alike.  Only a truly accomplished producer can wring so much vibes from so few elements.  With its minimalist grace and elemental power, we guarantee you’ll be reaching for this plate well into the future.

Producing dubstep and bass music since 2006, Wild’s non-stop touring and releases on labels including Tectonic, Black Box and Deep Medi have made him one of the most respected and visible producers in the scene.  A previous collaboration between Dan Man and Wild’s ‘Author' project yielded a mighty tune called "Jah Live” that spawned numerous remixes. Claston Brooks AKA Dan Man is a veteran musician and singer best known for his touring and recording work with Iration Steppas sound system, as well as killer releases on Indica Dubs, Conscious Sounds, Scoops, OBF, and Roots Factory.

Exploring organic styles of Dub like few others, JahYu's very own Tripedal Crow Records ventures off into five uncharted sound system excursions. Expressing his Korean heritage through sound, the Hamburg-based artist and label operator has firmly embedded himself in the national and global Roots and Dub scene, including a notable affiliation with the fulminant Steppas Records. Now on the controls for the imprints subsequent release - the man himself with full force and spirit.

Immersing yourself in the sonic jungle, 'Intimacy' unveils slow-motion drums, reverberating into a beautiful low-frequency foundation. Amidst the vibrant bass-line tribal drums keep the groove in full swing - livid skanks propelling the arrangement onwards as distorted overtones carry the weight. Dub-wise instrumentation flows in cohesive harmony, a common denominator of this profound release. Next up we turn to 'Dub Anarchist' - a melting pot of rising anticipation as ephemeral flutes pace amidst its fierce rhythm. Unleashing warrior sounds of revolution and urging action, no choice but to skank alongside invigorating lead melodies and drums in a stepper's style.

'Fake Dub' commences with broken, granular beats - haunting echoes luring keen listeners into JahYu's innovative take on combining musical elements from the past and present in an organic fashion. Authentic harmonies stacked on top providing the profound musical message. In a distinctively activist approach, 'Take Action' dispatches distant string fragments, recoiling in unbridled weight and power. A stripped down armament, designed for the dance and its audience, ruling the sound system with an iron fist. At the zenith of this sonic journey, the finale awaits. Within the sounds of 'Public Madness' - a hypnotic low-frequency meditation unfolds, driven by percussive vigor and spheric atmosphere.
