Welcome to the world of “Flay the Mind”. My artist name is in all a statement, to represent the excruciating reality of living with severe mental illness. A description of feeling as though your brain is a corpse being skinned from the thoughts you simply can’t control which lead you to actions and behaviors that are all the more uncontrollable. Throughout my life I experienced many examples of being admitted to psych wards, being kicked out of households, expelled, evicted, sent away to troubled youth alternative schools, arrested, and more for rebellious behavior and mental breakdowns. Growing up through years of mental health issues, bi-polar behavioral problems, drug abuse and even drug induced psychosis (currently sober since Feb. 9th 2020) I always looked for and got obsessed with things that I found brought me happiness. Although I never looked for a pass time to express myself. I had another suicide attempt when I was 19 in 2018. This sparked my idea of thinking to write poetry to express myself. From then on expressing myself grew into me becoming the artist I am today 6 years later. My sound is dynamic and powerful. My purpose is clear. I will create lyrics and vocals to express these troubles I’ve lived through. I won’t conform any longer to the pattern of this world. I will break inner walls and continue to grow. My sound will never cease to evolve.
