Ziger lands back on ICONYC this week with a brand-new single entitled 'Feel the Bass'. The Greek producer continues to be one of the top tier progressive house artists with continued support from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, along with releases on Eleatics, Beatfreak, Sudbeat and his own Eat My Hat imprint. 

'Feel The Bass' finds Ziger at his creative best with a driving, hypnotic production that's nicely dialed in or the dance floor. Punchy beats and a full, driving groove anchor the piece, as vibrant tones and spacey effects adorn the framework. The main break hits suddenly and its astral charm quickly saturates your pleasure centers, before melting down to a cavernous reservoir as the beats drop for a storming finale. 

The first remix of 'Feel the Bass' comes courtesy of LA based producer Anakim who returns to the label with a deep melodic remix here. The US artist reshapes the original elements into something deeper and more melodic spacious sounding. The wonk factor on the low end is quite high and monumentally groovy as well, nicely playing off the rolling rhythmic qualities as dulcet hooks and gentle harmonics drift in and out of the framework. The main break shifts the narrative into more emotive territory but the dance floor sensibility remains, with muted beats and percussive clusters building towards a tasteful drop. Superb rework from Anakim. 

The third and final interpretation comes from label debutants Propellar. The Berlin based duo follow excellent releases on MUKKE, Katz & Kauz and Family Piknik with a brilliant interpretation here. Deep, compelling and acutely mysterious, it's deep melodic qualities and richly textured groove make for a lovely first act. As atmospheres evolve, distinctive stabs and vocal edits steal the air, before a one-minute break takes you further into a haze of psychedelic audio, perfectly setting up a groovy finale. A brilliant remix from Propellar that's likely destined for the sets of the big boy brigade. Highly recommended.

Out Of Mind - Jaded (Original Mix) [Timeless Moment]

Opening the summer season in style, Phenomena welcomes Elias Erium back to the label for a new EP. With the March release of ‘Harvester’, the Canadian artist returned in resounding fashion. Picking up on the themes and sounds which established the label, the two-track showcase was a prime example of the Montreal resident’s creative attitude, winning over tastemaker duo Mind Against and ultimately setting the course for the May release of ‘The Grove’. With projects for long-standing ethereal imprint Steyoyoke and Eleatics subsidiary Aletheia Recordings already in the books for 2022, Elias now returns to his comfortable home of ‘Phenomena’ with a two-track showcase entitled ‘Sleepwalking’.

Beginning the title selection, Elias explores haunted minimalism and disparate motifs over militant beats and machine gun rhythms. A commanding dance floor presence is furthered by alien-like bleeps and panoramic arps, while percussive rides and flurries of effects transfer energy into the main break. Building tension across the near two-minute centrepiece, a dystopian style ecstasy is evoked, as emerging modulation and esoteric chord changes collapse under their own gravity, giving way to horn-like drones for a prophetic finale.

The companion piece ‘Taking You Back’ rounds out the release with a confident club energy. Elias’ penchant for dance floor dynamics is revealed through dark rebounding rhythms, phasing noise and quirky electronics, all cleverly programmed over a funked up, hip swinging groove. Snatches of ghostly vocals highlight the main break, bringing icy refrains and elastic-like arps along for the ride, eventually revealing a colourful vortex and commanding groove-centric conclusion. With the ‘Sleepwalking’ EP Elias carefully balances a timeless techno inspired mentality with futuristic technical vision, resulting in a two-track showcase that arrives just in time for the summer festival season.
