Bassic Records second various artist compilation is a proud work, combining global talents and ideas to form a journey-like release created in hope to accrue aspiration, inspire and resonate through dance floors. Compiled by Bassic label head ZigMon with the aim of showcasing what the Bassic Records sound is; not bound by genre but driven by purpose. To represent the natural, progressive, deep, dark and uplifting sounds in the outdoor electronic music scene, namely where he resides and is inspired by on the Australian east coast. From the tantalizing colour of Doppel to the heavy psychedelia of Zimbardy, this VA will take you through the labyrinth, you will be lost in techno.

The partaking producers call a range of different countries home, truly bringing forth distinctive and vibrant musical culture; Portugal, Mexico, Brazil, UK, France, New Zealand, USA, Mauritius, Denmark and of course Australia bred the artists you hear on this release. Consisting of Bassic Records label artists including Doppel, Ken Zo and Matt Dwellers, fresh new artists on Bassic’s roster Gabriel Moraes, Concrescent and Zombie Apocalypse, amazing input from Australian producers Louis Emile and Placeholder and international artists Ben Coda, One Man Orchestra, Flembaz, Quinema and Mose Robert. The final track is a piece by Zimbardy, an exceptional producer and young man who devastatingly passed in late 2015 less than two weeks after we received this track to master for this VA. It is an honour to release this for him and we know he will feel the vibrations every time it is played wherever he may be. This release is for him, as much as it is for you.

BLOT! is a live electronic music project based out of Delhi, India. Straddling music, art, party and performance, Gaurav Malaker is the producer and DJ at the helm of this project. With releases on Diynamic Music and more recently on Seven Villas, Malaker is known for his focus on warm analogue sounds, lush atmospheres and refined melodies - this latest remix delivers on exactly those promises.

The original track boasts the haunting, wistful vocals and piano of Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Sohrab Nicholson. The BLOT! remix builds on this melancholy, layering on powerful, melodic synth work and a dancefloor-friendly groove that unfurls in perfectly-judged progression. This is a track that shrinks the space between listener and song, taking it out of the bedroom and straight to the dancefloor.

For a veteran chillout producer to successfully navigate the transition to sought-after producer / remixer and DJ within the Progressive House scene, is not an easy ask. But Nick Brennan a.k.a. Tripswitch has done just that – and with distinction. It was his Tripswitch ‘Vagabond’ album (Iboga Records, 2016) that cemented his highly rated status as a key dance producer beyond doubt. The album rose to the top of the Beatport charts, hitting #1 in Electronica and holding at #2 in Progressive House for 3 months.

Since then, a flawless resumé of releases on Bedrock, Sudbeat, The Soundgarden, Movement, Balkan Connection, Flow Vinyl, Pure Progressive and many more creatively exciting labels, has seen Tripswitch’s progressive stock grow exponentially. Chart-topping collaborative studio projects with Nick Warren and Hernán Cattaneo, along with a huge bootleg remix of London Grammar’s ‘Rooting For You’, have helped to propel him to the upper reaches of the production cosmos.
