Based in Bucharest and studying audio engineering at the SAE Institute, Groovesh has already achieved numerous milestones in his career as a DJ and producer. During his residency at Answer Iasi he played alongside artists such as Valentino Kanzyani, Vera, Praslea, Priku or Vid aka Egal 3.

Following his 2015 stand out release on FarFromNormal Groovesh joins the Leftback roster with his soon to be signature groovy deep minimal across 4 tracks on vinyl only.

As highlighted by us in September last year, then Romanians have unwittingly formed a new blend of dance music, blending minimal techno & groove laden deep house, sewn up and exported to some of the clubbing world's hottest cities. Djs Rhadoo, Raresh and many more have helped to define a new sound amongst an overly-familiar genre - including hot export Priku. This Romanian musician and DJ shares a special 2 hour live mix with MEOKO, recorded at Bucharest's Snrs48 party, in turn delivering a live and unedited snapshot of his driving, deep and at times, subtle sound. A dynamic mix - playing with the space between notes and veering into minimal, atmospheric tapestries - Priku's focus on nuances in sound, percussive elements and thick slabs of bass running throughout shall take the MEOKO listener on a far flung, left of centre journey into a lesser known aesthetic. This recording is an extract from the Twilight set of Dubtil at Club Guesthouse. The party is an invite only event series at the club. Dubtil closed the night which saw guests such as Cezar, Edward, Vlada, SIT, among others, this is the first 2hrs extract of a 6hrs set at my dear home club. 

Having been there for this night and this closing set, I chose to put it out on the Toi Toi Mix Series not only because Dubtil has become part of our agency roster, in fact, it is because of things like this he is but also because this represents the milestone of my exploration in Romania. 

Charged with a reputation I always disliked, of being ‘flat and boring’ some Romanian artists have been unfairly judged and Dubtil is the primary example of that, he showed me here that this country has a pool of talents which are yet to be uncovered and oh boy, how enlightening to see them surface. Following on from the legacy that made him grow as an artist he shows here true djing by what djing should stand for. An extremely well structure and diverse peak time set which broke me in a 1000 pieces in positive surprise when being on his dance floor, elegantly 'ballsy'.  

This comes to reassure that my belief in the talents in this country is real, that for these past 10 months I have been here I continue to be shocked when these boys become a surprise box of amazing music research, killer mixing and structure, leading of course, to the highest standard of Djing, anything but flat or boring but rather enlightening and energising, full of personality and character, just what I want to see on dance floors​ hence why I stand proudly by it. ​



Thank you Dubtil for showing me this and for reassuring my faith in this country which I chose as my home.
