Music I made for footage taken from a group of friends puting together footage of us playing Elite Dangerous together. The video hasn't come together so Ill just store it here for now as an unmixed idea.

LISTEN TO THIS THROUGH A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES FOR BEST QUALITY (AUDACITY IS WEIRD)A draft piece to be revisited in a professional studio with decent equipment. Iv'e spent little time making it sound good as it was recorded on Audacity and it is more about the idea than how I've played it with even less effort put into making everything in time/together. Conceptually, it is a reflection of Space itself and the experience of space from the eyes of a human. As always, everything was written recorded and mixed by me.  About 40% of this thing was accidental.

Close Recapitulations Of The Third Kind

My band, the wooden spoons wrote this track as a unit. As usual, everything was mixed and produced by me. Unusually, I recorded the majority of the track myself with the exception of all the guitar parts, done by Caine, our guitarist. With artificial drums and a missing guitar solo, its far from finished but its by no means accurate to how we play it live anyway. I expect this will be an alternate take on the end of our album as it is only really my take on the music and not a collaborative effort of the band. This is the first track to come out of my new studio setup: mixed on real monitors, mastered on an actual DAW that isnt Audacity (no offence) and channelled through a proper studio mixing desk (via the USB output).

Gin Thinker Demo (the 7/8 song)

A commission from a university student working on a 2D space game where you play as a fighter pilot with the call-sign "Firebrand" (this was actually my idea!). I had already started the track before I was asked to write music for the game but the guy liked it so I just continued with it. It was meant as an exercise in writing music sole-ly with my new Analogue synth (a Korg Minilogue) but I ended up failing and adding a few bits of bass as I was generally, disappointed with the naked result of my synthesis upon realising I was writing music that I would usually hate. The  menu music however, I am quite proud of as a soundscape in the style of Tomita when he recorded Holst's Planet Suite purely with synthesizers, bar the appearance of a Celeste and the use of a Leslie rotary speaker.

Firebrand - Game OST

This was commissioned by a university student working on a game based on the real life game: "The Floor is Lava" which I thought was pretty cool. The student wanted something chilled and upbeat so I took one of my favourite chord sequences and spend a little time jamming with it. Texturally, its a bit of a mess but hey, it does the job for the game.

A rehash of an old tune now that I have better gear and fresh pickups in my Fretless Bass. Added a few things here and there since it wasn't disjointed enough for my liking.

Hammond solo in the end section put down by my great friend Adam Park, cheers man. As always, everything was written, recorded and mixed by me.

Purely incidental music, this has no provenance whatsoever. Thought it up in my student room in Liverpool University.

Unlimited POWER

My first release of a finished track that isn't a demo. This is a version of Catacombs from Mussorgsky's Pictures in an Exhibition for solo piano which Ravel later on orchestrated it and bought it to the masses in it's most well known form. This is by far my favourite movement from the suite and I was very disappointed when I discovered that ELP left it out completely in their live album in the Albert Hall. I refrained from listening to Tomita's version until after I had recorded it of course. It is all played live on my Korg Minilogue and produced by me.

Catacombs

Something I did for a Popular Composition assignment with a Guitar solo I am quite proud of if I do say so myself. Title comes from when I thought of the tune last year whilst doing my laundery in shitty uni acommodation facilities. Time may be a constant but the ammount of socks going in and out of a public washing machine never is.

Lost Socks

A piece I accidentally wrote for a band I've been producing after they sent me thematic material I didn't know existed in an actual song. Writing credit goes to Tyler Swindley, Musician, Pool legend and Silent Assin specialist from Widnes.

Flashback

Literally just using this as storage and easy access for my music / ideas. I suppose one could label it as Prog.
