c'è in giro da tempo una nuova 'musica assoluta', astratta, che sta fra la cosiddetta 'ambient music' e la 'drone music', nei pressi dei cosiddetti 'soundscape' o, meglio ancora, degli 'innerscape' .. a volte ha tratti più 'cameristici', o addirittura per strumento solista, a volte è più 'sinfonica' .. a volte usa solo sonorità 'sintetiche', a volte invece anche strumenti 'tradizionali' .. ha antecedenti illustri, sia nella cosiddetta musica 'classica', diciamo storica, sia nella 'popular music' e nel jazz .. a quella soprattutto io guardo

Steinway artist, Chad Lawson, decided Chopin needed a new introduction. Along with violinist Judy Kang (Lady Gaga, Ryuichi Sakamoto) and cellist Rubin Kodheli (Kanye West, Norah Jones), Lawson has arranged ten Chopin works into a minimalist landscape.

It's a risk editing the "poet of the piano" but one that Chopin would be proud of.

Taking 10 Chopin works, Lawson decided to scale the works down to a minimalist setting. "I knew even if bare-bones, Chopin's works could still be as spellbinding as the original compositions we are so familiar with." says the pianist.

Erased Tapes artists and friends Ólafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm have separately carved out a musical career that defies genres both with their unique live shows and a loyal fan base that’s always eager to hear what their prolific output will bring. 

Their latest collaborative 2-track release ‘Life Story Love and Glory’ is a live improv affair on two pianos, recorded in 2012 at Nils’s Durton Studio in Berlin. Fans may wonder why they have waited until 2015 to release these tracks, but having revealed a new website www.arnaldsfrahm.com you may think this may not be the end to their musical story this year. 

“We would meet in Reykjavik or Berlin with the intention to share some days off work, hiking, swimming or eating pizza. That is great for a couple days, but after a while we would always end up back in the studio, fiddling with synths or pianos.” – Nils Frahm

Sebastian Plano is a composer and cellist from Argentina, currently residing in Berlin. His work for Denovali Records, collaboration with Ben Lukas Boysen for "Everything" game (which subsequently was released as a soundtrack on Erased Tapes) and the most recent solo album, "Verve" on Mercury KX, has captivated fans of cinematic, ambient, and modern classical music. For this premiere, Plano reworks a track by Tom Adams from his 2019 release, Particles, on Moderna Records, a gentle yet confident, complex yet playful, nostalgic yet hopeful, and brief yet memorable sonic piece.

We're excited to announce the release of our first ever soundtrack : the score for the feature length documentary 'Chasing the Present' by Icelandic composer and producer @snorrihallgrimsson. 

Co-produced by Ólafur Arnalds, Hallgrímsson’s stunning score makes use of filtered strings and pianos to emphasize the title character's depression. In the soundtrack's beautiful title track, which is available now on spoti.fi/32wNgH1, the filter opens completely to showcase the mind's enormous potential when it breaks free from perpetual anxiety. Tristan Eckerson is an American Pianist, Composer, and Producer currently based in Santa Marta, Colombia.  In the past five years he has released six full length albums and more than two album's worth of singles, both independently and with 1631 Recordings (Nils Frahm, Dustin O'Halloran, Hauschka), A Remarkable Idea (Bloc Party, Benoît Pioulard, Maxïmo Park, Robot Koch), Mellotron Records, 7K! Records, and Sonder House.  He has toured through North America and Europe and has composed music for award winning commercials, short films, and web series.  His music has received multiple sync placements in television and film, and has been streamed over forty million times worldwide.  In 2022 Tristan contributed a track to the Piano Day Compilation, released by German label Leiter and featuring artists such as Olafur Arnalds, Chilly Gonzales, and Balmorhea.

Having graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California with a Master's degree in Music Production and Sound Design for Visual Media, Tristan handles all aspects of the production of his music independently- from writing, recording, mixing, and mastering through to artwork and cover art design.  Releasing compositions for solo piano on an almost monthly basis for the past few years, in January of 2023 Tristan also released his debut album under his Ambient project Purple Decades.  "Journey Test", released by Portland based label Beacon Sound, was well received by fans and the press, and was featured in the Best Ambient on Bandcamp: February, 2023.  Purple Decades' follow up full length "Fraction of Centuries" will be released on Beacon Sound on September 6th, 2024.
