As the Dust Rises (guqin/mixed ensemble)

I am an Australian-born composer of concert music and music for screen as well as an experienced arranger and orchestrator. I enjoy collaborating on a range of projects from small scale short films to advertising, feature scores and live performances.

My scores cover a range of genres from orchestral to electronic and popular styles. My turn-around is fast, I can capture a mood quickly and can provide tracks to suit all requirements.

I have written for numerous ensembles and performing arts organisations including the Melbourne and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras, members of the New York Philharmonic, Kammer Ensemble, the Song Company, Orkest de Ereprijs, Chronology Arts, the Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra and the Composers’ Ensemble. My orchestration and arrangement credits include work for Japanese video game composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, Australian composer Matthew Hindson, oud virtuoso Joseph Tawadros and the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra.

My training includes an undergraduate degree in composition from the Sydney Conservatorium of music as well as a masters from the Royal College of Music, London.

Hello and welcome to my site! Here I tell you a little about myself. ;)
 
I was born in Cuba, I finished a Master in Composition at the University of Montreal, under the direction of composer Ana Sokolovic.

I have had the honor of seeing music played  in Canada by famous ensembles and orchestras like the Ensemble Transmission, Le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, UltraViolet Ensemble. The University of Montreal Symphonic Orchestra, as well as in Spain, Germany, Venezuela, France, Denmark, Colombie, Chile, Mexique and Cuba.
 
I have presented my music as a performer and composer Paris, Denmark, Canada, Cuba, and Mexico.
 
I am currently finishing my doctoral studies in composition at l’Université de Montréal.

My current work focuses on musical production, taking Cuban and Afro-Cuban music as the main inspiration and mixing it with electronic music.

I am a contemporary classical composer working in Sydney, Australia.  I have composed across a wide variety of areas including orchestral, chamber, electronic, film and installations. Versuchsanordnung: 
"It's our aim to paint images in your head!"


Versuchsanordnung (German for: experimental arrangement) stands for research on tones, molecular geometries of sound, destillates of incidental tonal sounds, be it in the form of compositions or pure improvisation.

Versuchsanordnung create sound impressions full of atmosphere aiming to paint pictures in your head. Versuchsanordnung also compose film scores when getting commissioned (they already did music for 3 films).

Versuchsanordnung is experimenting with unlikely forms of compositions and is a quite well-known unit for group-improvised music.

Versuchsanordnung has been in existance since 2006.

Status (May 2019):
At this point, Versuchsanordnung is working on another CD, composing & arranging new pieces. This is a slow process, cause the members live in different cities and don't rehearse.

Despite of this, Versuchsanordnung are available for concerts as a unit for free-improvised music (working as "Laboratorium") until recordings are finished (Guest musicians are welcome).
