They had the honour of playing the third headline slot at Glastonferret 2021 alongside

Not Turning Back

Whilst on holiday surfing in Brazil, one Duo-Tone producer paid a visit to the beach city of Recife having heard rumours of its wild, carnival atmosphere. After spending some time indulging in the nightlife there, they fell in love with the music and vowed to capture its electrifying energy in this latest label release.

It features local Saxophonist Andy Weaver and worldly percussionist Gafro who combine to deliver rich, vibrant textures. It captures elements of previous releases, with pulsating rhythms and explosive drops, and transplants them into an infectious Latin setting. 

Andy Weaver is a young, professional session musician based in the North-West of England. With a passion for Jazz, Funk and Soul music he has developed his skills and become one of the most sought after sax players in the North West. He has recently played on tracks that have been featured on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 6 Music as well as touring the UK and Europe.

Gafro has played drums and percussion for over 35 years. Having studied music in Leeds, Salford, France, Gambia, Senegal, Cuba, Jamaica and more, he has gathered experience from a myriad of musical styles. His extensive career has seen him perform/record for The Real Macaws, Inner Sense, Sweet Sensation and found Lark Lane Drummers. This has taken him all around Europe and throughout the UK including at Glastonbury and V Festival. 

After establishing club nights in Liverpool and strengthening the brand with an eclectic mix of consecutive House, Electronic and Nu-Disco releases from various artists, Duo-Tone expand beyond their label/event format to present new tracks under the name of Duo-Tone Productions. Previous releases featuring the likes of Tori Cross and Gazelle have garnered big success (with the later hitting the UK Music Week Club Charts Top 10). Now, the Liverpool Dance label return with a brand new sound.

Duo-Tone Productions release new cover of Blue Six classic, ‘Music And Wine’. The track sees infectious soul beats meet the rich, textured vocals of Liverpool based Singer/Songwriter, Anaïsa. 

Music And Wine was originally created by Blue Six, the Electronic Soul project of Jay Denes. He released  his debut album, ‘Beautiful Tomorrow’, on the seminal label, Naked Music. Both Naked Music and label mainstay of the time, Miguel Migs, remain a huge influence of Duo-Tone.

Anaïsa has had a love for performing music since the age of 5. Since then, her music has matured and her career has soared, landing her original songs support from BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Merseyside and Radio DJ’s such as Adam Walton. Now, at only 22 years old, the young artist has already built up a wealth of experience that has allowed her to develop a confident and characterful sound.

Duo - Tone Productions Ft. Anaisa - Music And Wine

Duo-Tone Productions team up with Sense of Sound Singers to release new cover of the Disco-House anthem, ‘Follow Me’.

The original track was created by New Jersey trio Aly-Us and was executive produced by DJ Pierre, a member of Chicago outfit Phuture who are often credited with inventing the Acid-House sound. ‘Follow Me’ was originally released on the renowned Strictly Rhythm record label and was a big success for the band, reaching in the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart Top 10. Now, Duo-Tone Productions have taken the musical and cultural heritage that lies within the song and given it a 2019 update with the help of Liverpool’s most respected choir.

Sense of Sound Singers is an award winning collective of phenomenal vocalists, renowned for delighting and thrilling audiences locally, nationally and internationally. Their incredible talent has been recognised by many big names, leading them to become the resident singers for Cream Classical and perform backing vocals for the likes of Paloma Faith, Jon Bon Jovi, Seal, Nile Rogers and Chic, Damon Albarn, Peaches, and many more! Having recently recorded with Indie-Pop sensations, Blossoms, the choir return to the studio once again to deliver this brand new track.

‘Follow Me’ captures the emotions of the choir’s renowned live performances, and condenses it into one powerful Dance track that radiates with their positive energy. By adding in their collective chorus, this modern cover builds on the original track’s understated 90’s sound and brings it to life in style. With its infectious rhythm and uplifting vocal prowess, this new release lands just in time to be your next summer soundtrack.

After earning a Top 15 in the Upfront Club Charts with their latest single ‘Time and Time Again’, Duo-Tone Productions have returned with a brand new track ‘Can’t Get Enough’ featuring the soulful vocals of Tori Cross. 

Liverpool based record label Duo-Tone initially made a name for themselves with a series of club nights in the city before going on to strengthen the brand with an eclectic mix of House, Electronic and Nu-Disco releases. Recent singles came from the likes of KOVA (which hit the Upfront Club Charts Top 10) and Josh Hunter (which has received extensive support from Radio 1 and KISS FM). They have now expanded beyond their label/event format to present their own tracks, collaborating with the best new vocal talent, under the name of Duo-Tone Productions. 

Initially hailing from Birmingham, Singer-Songwriter Tori Cross has developed her craft in Liverpool, performing every year at LIMF and more recently for Liverpool Digital Music Festival during lockdown. She has made a name for herself with her socially active nature and distinctive soulful voice that draws on influences from the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Lianne La Havas. 

Her latest solo release ‘Woman’ is a powerful gospel-influenced track with a strong message of female empowerment and has gained consistent praise from Dave Monks on BBC Radio Merseyside and BBC Radio 6. This is not the first time that Duo-Tone have lended the vocal talents of Tori Cross, having previously collaborated on the summer dance anthem ‘Sunrise’.  Now, she has teamed up with the label once again to create this new smooth, Dance single.

‘Can’t Get Enough’ is the perfect late night summer soundtrack, packed full of feel-good vibes best enjoyed under ready for the Ibiza sunset. The song blends the soothing dance rhythms of Duo-Tone Productions with the uplifting spirit of Tori Cross. Lyrically, the song captures the escapism music can provide, allowing you to lose yourself in the moment. Having been fully written and recorded in lockdown, it also highlights the emotions the country has gone through during the pandemic and the surreal dream-like state that is our post-lockdown reality.

Although the summer beat is infectious, it is the strong, empowering vocals that give this new single its overwhelming character. As friends and family start to rejoin after months of lockdown ‘Can’t Get Enough’ is the ideal track to bring people together and celebrate the return to normal life.

Art-pop trio Oya Paya are set to make their long awaited return with a brand new 6 track mini-album ‘Connect’. The band are renowned across Liverpool for their unique blend of sounds from across the globe, drawing on inspirations from their varied countries of heritage (Singapore, France, Iran and England). The 6 track LP blurs the lines between alt rock, grunge and electro infused indie to create a sound as eclectic as the cultural roots of the outfit.

The opening track ‘Focus’ is filled with angsty vocals, infectious grooves and intricate interplay between each band member, setting a thematic precedent for the rest of the record. The sharp, social satire is not only present in the lyrical content but is mirrored in the technical rigour of the instrumentation and the characterful drawl of lead singer Maxime McGowan.
