Bene and Nils aka Kon Faber are two talented young producers from Berlin. We share quite a few friends and it was just a matter of time till we would be collaborating. That moment happened beginning 2021 and from the moment we heard their track Odyssey for the first time it has been running on repeat in our mountain studio in Portugal.

Logically finding remix artists was not very tricky and we are delighted to welcome @charlie3m to Hug Records with this beauty of a remix. When a reptilian frenchie nomad discovered the sound of guiros & congas shaping into cumbia rhythms, he embraced the vibe and integrated these patterns into his sound... 

In love with electronic music, downtempo and global bass, he decided to try and merge his affection for latin percussions and sounds from the barrios into this 4-tracks EP, much more reggaeton, dembow and digital cumbia than his usual production style. 

A sound exploration from a Latin America lover & beginner cumbiero, with the incredible instrumental and vocal participation of the Moroccan electronic-gnawa music expert Khalil Mounji on "Gnawacumbia", and illustrated by the amazing artwork of Da Iguana's friend 91 36 Art (FR).

The Tiger’s Nest refers to Ngalop, a tribe from Bhutan. They used to dance masked in their ceremonies. Symbolizing different deities, demons and animals the masks are used when the Ngalop act out spiritual stories from their collective past. Religious gathering for them is the Tschechu festival which take place in the temple of Paro Takstang or The Tiger’s Nest, located more than 10.000 feet above sea level, it is one of the most sacred sites in Bhutan. A legend holds that a former wife of an Emperor, willingly became a disciple of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambahva) in Tibet. She transformed herself into a tigress and carried the Guru on her back from Tibet to the present location of the Taktsang in Bhutan. In one of the caves here, the Guru then performed meditation and emerged in eight incarnated forms (manifestations) and the place became holy. Subsequently, the place came to be known as the “Tiger's Nest”

Fresh out of the camper is Joep Mencke’s Mataka Ep. After the success with his debut Asiri last year, we have been hooked on Mencke’s sound. With two solid originals and an adventure of a remix by the label bosses unders & Noraj Cue, Mataka delivers.


Tum sounds like you’re on a boat on tranquil water floating into a mysterious world full of wonders. Its dark, yet light. The mist makes you want to doze off but the claps, conga’s and busty breakbeats keep you awake. The horizon is hazy, yet the subtle swing is so clear. The second production and the EP’s name carrier does not take any shortcuts. Mataka’s groove kicks in straight away. Little joyful bells enlighten the darkness.
