Alex Niggemann is a master of capturing and encompassing elements of darkness, mystery and uplifting melancholic beauty in his subtle and spacious creations. There aren’t enough cutting- edge artists out there who are bold enough to breathe life into their productions with true emotion. “Asterism” steers an equally subtle melancholic path, before morphing into a stunning rollercoaster ride of a track, firing with exuberant, emotive energy and desire. To complete this package, “Asterism” is treated to a remix from the uninhibited perspectives of Belgium’s exceptional rising star and kindred spirit, Locked Groove.

For those people with open minds and open ears, electronic music doesn’t really have borders – blurring the boundaries between house and techno is a given – creativity and experimentation without restrictions and
expectations is what allows artists to make exceptional music that becomes timeless and treasured.

AEON references back to Alex Niggeman’s roots – the music which inspired him to start his career as a DJ and producer – and was created as a platform to release music that stands for quality and originality. Music that fits perfectly into peak-time sets, without being too obvious, without being just functional, with multiple musical dimensions. The “Stellar EP” is the next outstanding instalment.

Bridging the gap between Berlin and Ibiza, Eagles & Butterflies the English-born artist has been showing up on an increasing amount of radars for the past couple years now, gaining support from Dixon, Amê, John Digweed, Tale Of Us and many more. Now he’s just completed his second studio album, an 11 track work titled ‘Abstract’. From the first notes of the opening track, ‘We Get High (feat. J.U.D.G.E)’ is a darker shade of beautiful. The track gently slides into position before the vocals hit, giving an almost melancholic feel and opening the album on a kind of sentimental note.

Then with ‘Colours of Arps,’ Eagles & Butterflies captivates us with arpeggios, warm synths and a warm atmosphere. The use of arpeggiators is wide spread throughout, becoming the thread that ties the album together. The album’s third track shifts quickly from the warm and sunny vibes to a darker, cooler place somewhere deep in the late Mediterranean nights. But the sun does rise and ‘Same Place Same Time’ gives us our first dose of club music. Next ‘Colours’ spreads its wings with its deep basslines and eerie, electrically charged atmosphere. We take a turn for organic percussion in the aptly titled, ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ as Eagles & Butterflies takes us on a guided tour through the forests of House music.

One thing is for certain regarding ‘Abstract’, the only constant is diversity. As we near the midway mark, Eagles & Butterflies has managed to bring an astounding amount of styles and genres together, cohesively and naturally. ‘Textures’ draws its inspiration from a more technoid direction, while still maintaining a bouncy, House vibe. As does ‘The Secret Garden’, chugging along, building a soft tension that gets melted by the elegant ‘Sounds Of Colours’. ‘Sounds of Colours’ takes its time to blossom, but when it does we are greeted with delicate rays of sunlight that pierce through the grey and stormy skies. A solid, beautiful piece of music.

One of the last three remaining tracks feature vocals from J.U.D.G.E again, whose voice beautifully reflects the mood and ambience while delivering massive amounts of emotion to ‘So Long’. ‘So Long’ is the easily one of the most effortlessly-danceable tracks on the album, bringing a solid groove, addictive vocals and warm tones delicately together. Ending the album on a high note, ‘Black Canvas’ is like springtime, fresh, warm and full of life.

Super talented Swiss producer Jeremy Vieira is known as Several Definitions. His fresh sound means another step in the contemporary electronic music scene. His sound is hard to get a clear definition, it rides between tech-house and trance.
 
The pack opens with Square, where Jeremy presents a unique and new style offering fresh proposes to a track. He only needs a few items to get the best result. Why Eat a Super Jam offers a catchy voice as a hook and some amazing crazy synths in an unpredictable way. British rising star Ten Ven gives the best on remix duties for a special version of this.

We close with the song that gives the name to the release. It shows the sweet and sensual voice of La Meduza, taking you to a secret and recondite little island in Ibiza. 'Mention Yoshitoshi to someone who grew up raving in the late 90's and early 2000's and there's a good chance they'll get a twinkle in their eye as memories of tracks like Eddie Amador's 'House Music,' PQM's 'You Are Sleeping,' Alactraz's 'Giv Me Luv', and Luzon's 'The Baguio Track' come flooding back. The label has produced some of dance music's most timeless records, including some of Deep Dish's own early work & remixes, plus iconic tracks like Chiapet's 'Westworld' and 'Tick Tock', Brother Brown's 'Under The Water', Kings of Tomorrow's numerous classics as KOT and Mysterious People, YMC's 'Last Stop,' Dino Lenny's 'I Feel Stereo,' 2 Smokin' Barrels' 'Basses Loaded,' Sasha & BT's seminal '2 Fat C**ts,' Lexicon Ave's 'Here I Am,' Loudeast's 'Lights Off!' and many many more. The list is really too long. Through it all Yoshitoshi's focus has always been to push forward entire genres of music and never allow itself to be pinned down to one style or sound. Some might say this is no way to run a label, that hopping between genres is a surefire path to failure. Well, twenty-five years later, Yoshitoshi is still going strong, having been an instrumental force in forging many of today's dance music superstars. It's a formula that's yielded astonishing results, simply because of the label's dedication to finding, nurturing, and championing forward-thinking talent above all else.

Few labels reach their silver jubilee, especially in the fast-paced, single-driven world of house and techno. In celebration of its rich twenty-five-year history in dance music, Yoshitoshi will release three unique compilations each filled with a 25 track mix of remastered classics, modern hits, and new remixes from some of the greatest names in House, Techno, and Melodic House. 

For the Techno edition of Yoshitoshi 25, we've dug deep into the archives and pulled out the finest tracks that define the darker side of Yoshitoshi's history. This includes remastered versions of classic tracks like Dish Out Bum's 'Gak Trak' Chiapet's 'Tick Tock,' 2 Smokin' Barrels' 'Basses Loaded,' and Timeline's 'Clockwork Orange,' as well as modern cuts like Victor Ruiz's 'Rollercoaster,' ANNA's 'Momentum,' Nicole Moudaber's seminal remix of Alcatraz's 'Give Me Luv', and Loco & Jam and Frankyeffe's 'Splitting Minds.' To spice things up, we've included three brand new remixes from Moonwalk, label regular Olivier Giacomotto, and Dubspeeka. Moonwalk takes on Phil Kieran's 'I Love You,' creating a deep mix that emphasizes the Italian duo's knack for catchy, earworm synth patterns and hold-your-breath build-ups that deliver in the club. Olivier takes on one of the earliest entries in the Yoshitoshi catalogue, Hani's 'Irieheaven,' flipping the originally squelchy 303 tune into one of his bold, signature hands-in-the-air techno anthems. Dubspeeka remixes Sharam's classic from 2009 'Secret Parkway,' turning the track into a moody late-night warehouse banger complete with spooky synths and gobs of low end. Following up the deep and uplifting Yoshitoshi 25: House compilation, the Techno edition takes you to the other side of the coin and once again demonstrates the label's diverse history and versatility.
