Next Summer is a journey through the on-going lockdown and summarizes Semodi’s work in his Berlin Kreuzberg studio during the pandemic winter months of late 2021. While tiresome for everybody, for Semodi it was also a time of inspiration and musical  exploration crossing the boundaries of genres. Coming back from his walks through the  streets of Kreuzberg, he often brought home a new melody that he could then craft into his music. Ultimately Semodi came up with three distinct tracks and presents us with a touching 
and emotional record that reflects his perception and experiences during the lockdown. He thus opens up a musical perspective to this special time, that we can all relate to. While “Into Deep” is an older and more techno composition that found its way onto the record, Semodi started to work with singers to implement an element of storytelling into his more recent works.
For the title track “Next Summer” Semodi teamed up with his partner Maïlys who tells her story of the lockdown in Berlin with nothing to do outside and her desire to go out and do things again. Her spoken-word performance is embedded in a dry beat accompanied by a simple but melodic bass line. And as Maïlys expresses her hope for the time after the lockdown and her desire to dance again next summer, the music opens up and illustrates her hope with melodic arpeggios.
“Oh Boy” is a deep and driven piece of music that guides the listener into a dreamy and psychedelic parallel universe. Guest artist Antigone adds a mesmerizing dimension to the track and completes the picture with her outstanding vocal performance.
With Melokind, Nico Pusch and Theus Mago three skilled remixers contribute their personal interpretations of Semodi’s tracks to the record and thus broaden the multitude of genres to choose from.
While Melokind delivers a deep, melodic version of “Oh Boy” that radiates the positive warmth of a festival afternoon, Nico Pusch contributes an up-tempo tech house version of the same track that will work nicely on peak time main floors. Theus Mago presents 
us with his never-ending-lockdown psychedelic remix of “Next Summer”

Semodi feat. Antigone - Oh Boy (Melokind Remix) [Thisbe]

'For the 23rd EP on Heimlich Musik, Franz Matthews collaborates with label veteran Johannes Klingebiel and Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist Semodi, delivering two original mixes accompanied with remixes by Random Atlas and Balam. "Signs" is the result of a spontaneous collaboration between Franz Matthews and Johannes Klingebiel which started after a few drinks and builds on instrumental recordings. A powerful bassline and melancholic pads are used to reflect the message of the vocals to welcome the unexpected signs of life in a positive way. Evolving from a long-lasting friendship with Semodi, "Law of Attraction" is an enchanting arrangement carried by a subtle guitar and vocals about rewiring your own behavioral patterns for a more fulfilling existence. Chilean duo Random Atlas pick up the bassline and main theme of "Signs" in their remix while their powerful signature disco sound is magnified by the use of additional drum elements, analog synth lines, and electric guitars. Balam recreates "Law of Attraction" as an ecstatic club track based on hypnotic drums while keeping the spirit of the original, rounding up the EP as a whole.'

Premiere: Franz Matthews & Semodi  - Law of Attraction [Heimlich Musik]

Spirited singer and producer @die-ruhe will be releasing a remix of her previously released single, ‘DANCE OR WE ARE LOST’, on the 11th of November via Reduced To The Root Records. The record was remixed by multi-instrumentalist Techno and House producer @semodi_berlin who explores the outer edge of electronic music, composing music rich in analog sound design, adding a touch of spontaneity to his music. In the press, his music has been featured in industry publications such as THE CLUBMAP, Yourstru.ly, WhiteLight/WhiteHeat, Chromatic Club, and Living Techno and aired on the German radio station Byte FM. The remix offers aspects of Röyksopp, Lykke Li, MØ, Stephan Bodzin, and Eli & Fur.


Born in Thuringia, Germany, but currently residing in Leipzig, Germany, MARIA Die RUHE, and her love of travel, has seen the globe. She has previously lived in Berlin, San Francisco, and London and performed on several stages across Europe, including Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, and Turkey. MARIA brings new-found enthusiasm to each and every show. Her work has previously been supported by CLASH Magazine, Notion Magazine, Metal Magazine, Tonspion, Glamglare, trndmsk among others and earned her over 10 million streams on her Spotify top 10 alone.


Berlin-based live performer and Electronic DJ Semodi blends Progressive House and Techno with the catchy hooks of pop and the harmonic depth of classical music. In recent years, Semodi has released tracks with labels like Bonzai Progressive and Heimlich. Last year, his first EP ‘Next Summer’ was released under Thisbe Recordings alongside remixes by Nico Pusch, Melokind, and Theus Mago. Of late, the artist has been touring Germany’s electronic music festivals with his live-act Mojoy, namely Fusion, Katzensprung, Wilde Möhre. as a DJ, he has been playing sets at Berlin’s nightclubs Renate and Ritter Butzke.


Semodi’s remix is an edgy reinterpretation of MARIA Die RUHE’s original record ‘DANCE OR WE ARE LOST’. Having sprinkled techno tropes and layered syncopated hi-hats over a loop of MARIA’s infectious chorus lyric, the producer intensifies the quirky avant-garde undertone, using retro filters to push and pull her vocal across the mix while deep, thumping kicks hammer against crunchy basslines and harmonic plucks.


Semodi tells us how his remix came together: “The original mix of DOWAL already has super nice vocals and very relatable lyrics, so I felt I had to add a kick-ass bass line to really make you want to dance. Also, I wanted to give the vocals a musical context that really embraces the message of the track in the final drop. So I created some epic synth pads that made me feel this yearning for salvation in dancing.”
