In the past, the great scholar of ḥadīth, Shaykh Rabīʿ' ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī issued some statements in regards to him being called, "Imām of Jarḥ wa Taʿdīl" and being considered a scholar. The noble shaykh, following in the footsteps of great scholars who preceeded him like Imām al-Albānī (who called himself a طُويلب -  [just] a small student), negated scholarship for himself and showed dislike for being praised. This is a characterstic of humilty and follows in the way of the Salaf - humility, hating being elevated etc. Naturally, those with sinister objectives sought to utilise this speech to infer that Shaykh Rabīʿ is not an Imām, not a scholar, and not fit to critique (ahl al-bidʿah), hoping to dismiss every criticism ever levied by this noble scholar. In this benefit, our brother Abū al-Ḥasan Mālik sheds light on this sinister behaviour. In addition, Abū Khadījah recently blogged "Is Shaykh Rabīʿ a Scholar of this Era?" Pay attention to this audio clip and the blog posting. The people of trickery and deception never cease in their attempts to confuse.

Shaykh Rabīʿ': "I am not the Imām of Jarḥ wa Taʿdīl" (The Humility of a Scholar)

From the greatest scholars of the Ummah in the last century was al-ʿAllāmah al-Shakyh ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn ʿAbdillāh ibn Bāz raḥimahullāh. His firmly-grounded knowledge of the religion, wisdom, and piety were characteristics that made him recognized by Muslims internationally. A collection of his rulings, al-Majmūʿ al-Fatāwá́, is an outstanding example of these aforementioned characteristics. The trend among people today, especially the youth, is to wear pants that fall below the ankles. Does our religion offer any guidance in this matter? Is there anything wrong with wearing pants like this? This question was posed to Shaykh Ibn Bāz and he answered with narrations from the Messenger of Allāh ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam.

L64 completes the Fourth section in the book, titled: “Concerning the Ma‘iyyah, and the Clarification, Harmonizing Between it and the ‘Ulu of Allah, and His Istiwa’ over His Throne” and also the Fifth Section of "Concerning the Nearness of Allah, Exalted is He, and His Response (to the Calls), and that this Does Not Negate His ‘Ulu and Fawqiyyah" and introduces the Sixth Section "Concerning the Belief that the Qur’an is the Speech of Allah in Reality."

The lesson discusses:

- Concerning the author’s statement: "He is the One Who: “Grasps the heavens and the earth lest they move away from their places.” (Fatir 35:41).
 
- The heavens and the earth stand by the commands of Allah, both universal and legislative. If the truth followed the desires of the creation, then all of the heavens and the earth, and whoever is in them, would have been corrupted.

- The belief that Allah, Himself, is Near and He responds; that is to His slaves.

- Allah’s Nearness does not imply that He is on the earth, because there is nothing like Allah, Exalted is He, in all His Attributes, and He encompasses everything.

- From faith in Allah and His Books is the belief that the Qur’an is the Speech of Allah, sent down, and not a creation. From Him it started, and to Him it returns.

- Explanation of the statement of Imam Ahmad who said: “Whoever says: 'Al-Lafz (the utterance) of the Qur'an is created,' then he is a Jahmi, and whoever says: 'not created,' then he is an innovator.”

- Explanation of the author’s statement "And that this Qur'an, which was revealed to Muhammad ﷺ is the Speech of Allah in reality; not the speech of other than Him."
