RUSH TO SERVE PARENTS: Lessons in the story of Jurayj

Giving Thanks for the Blessings of Allāh | ‘Eid al-Aḍḥā Khuṭbah 2025 - Ustādh Abu ʿAbdur-Raḥmān Hilāl (حفظه الله)

- Remembering and glorifying Allāh after great acts of worship. 
- Abū Bakr aṣ-Ṣiddīq’s (رضى الله عنه) first khuṭbah to the people after becoming the Khalīfah. 
- Beautiful words of advice from Salmān al-Fārisī to Abū ad-Dardā’ (رضى الله عنهما) when he realised that his excessive worship was affecting his family. 
- The greatest rights to be fulfilled. 
- The greatest right of Allāh upon us.
- “Say (O Muḥammad ﷺ): ‘Verily, my Salāh (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allāh, the Lord of the ‘Ālamīn (mankind, jinns and all that exists).” [Sūrah al-An’ām 6:162]
- “And He gave you of all that you asked for, and if you count the Blessings of Allāh, never will you be able to count them.” [Sūrah Ibrāhīm 14:34]
- The rights our souls have upon us. 
- Giving our families their rights and valuing our relationship with our parents. 
- The necessity of keeping our children close in these difficult times.
- Preserving ties with our siblings and not letting worldly affairs cause separation.
- "All the praises and thanks be to Allāh, Who has guided us to this, never could we have found guidance, were it not that Allāh had guided us!” [Sūrah al-A’rāf 7:43]
- “And remember Him as He has guided you, and verily, you were, before, of those who were astray.” [Sūrah al-Baqarah 2:198]
- Profound counsel from ‘Uthmān b. ‘Affān (رضى الله عنه) on preparing for the Angel of Death. 
- A ḥadīth to give glad tidings to the hearts of our sisters. 
- Advice from our Messenger ﷺ to remain patient until we meet him at the lake [ḥawḍ].

[06/06/2025] The Importance of Choosing Good Companionship - By Abu Khadeejah ‘Abdul Wāḥid. 

- Mankind’s innate nature to love and enjoy the companionship of others.
- The varying levels and types of people in relation to their manners and adherence to the dīn. 
- “Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous.” [Sūrah az-Zukhruf 43: 67]
- “And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, ‘Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way. Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken so-and-so as a friend. He led me away from the remembrance after it had come to me. And ever is Shayṭān to man, a deserter.’” [Sūrah al-Furqān 25: 27-29]
- The story of how wicked companionship caused ‘Uqbah b. Abī Mu’īṭ to return to paganism after embracing Islām.
- Examples of how ‘Uqbah harmed the Prophet ﷺ, the du’ā of the Prophet ﷺ against him, and his evil outcome along with the other chiefs of Quraysh.  
- How evil companionship caused Abū Ṭālib to die upon paganism despite the Prophet’s ﷺ earnest call for him to accept Islām. 
- The similitude of a righteous companion and a wicked companion.
- Al-Adhīmabādī (رحمه الله) on the meaning of a man being upon the religion of his close friend. 
- The two types of souls created by Allāh, and the reason why we are inclined to some people and repulsed by others. 
- The fruits of good companionship and harms of wicked companionship.
- “And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and for Paradise that is as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous.” [Sūrah Āli ‘Imrān 3: 133]
- Clarification that sinners are advised and called to good, but not taken as companions. 
- Advice to the youth to fear Allāh, strengthen their īmān and keep good companions. 


The Importance of Choosing Good Companionship By Abu Khadeejah

The khuṭbah at Masjid al-Furqān (TROID) on 2022.07.15 that preceded the 2022 summer conference entitled: Singling Out the Truth Amidst a Sea of Falsehood. Shaykh Kāshiff Khān mentions numerous ayāt and ḥadīth about the blessing of following the Sunnah and clinging to it amidst a sea of misguidance. 

Narrated Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "You will follow the ways of those nations who were before you, span by span and cubit by cubit (i.e., inch by inch) so much so that even if they entered a hole of a mastigure, you would follow them." We said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! (Do you mean) the Jews and the Christians?" He said, "Whom else?" Saḥiḥ al-Bukhārī 7320

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَرَ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ـ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ ـ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ لَتَتْبَعُنَّ سَنَنَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ شِبْرًا شِبْرًا وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ، حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلُوا جُحْرَ ضَبٍّ تَبِعْتُمُوهُمْ ‏"‏‏.‏ قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى قَالَ ‏"‏ فَمَنْ ‏"‏‏.‏

Death is a Matter of Divine Preordainment

Shaykh Kāshiff Khān cites the work of the scholars in explaination of  why people go astray. From the July 2022 conference at TROID: Singling Out the Truth Amidst a Sea of Falsehood - Identify It, Study It, Hold onto It and Its People.

The Causes of Misguidance 1/2

 • Started with the virtues of ʿAbdullāh Ibn Masʿūd (رضي الله عنه)
 • Covered the narration of Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī and Ibn Masʿūd: — “How many people intend good but never reach it”
 • Highlighted evidence from the Qur’ān and Sunnah showing the completeness of the religion — no need for additions  “This day I have perfected for you your religion…” (Sūrah al-Mā’idah 5:3)’
  • Virtues of the Khulafā’ al-Rāshidīn (the four rightly guided caliphs)
 • Importance of clinging to the understanding of the Salaf al-Ṣāliḥīn
 • Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr on the verse: —  “This is My straight path, so follow it” (al-Anʿām 6:153)
 • Hadith of the 73 sects and its variations and its different chains - Linked with Ibn Masʿūd’s narration: “The Jamāʿah is what conforms with the truth, even if you are alone”
• Danger of bid'ah (innovation) and how it is more severe than committing major sins - to the exent that the Prophet ﷺ warned against it even before it appeared.
• The importance of Tawheed and the precise wording found in the sunnah and the Quran.  Example, Surah Maryam ayah 65
 "Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, so worship Him (Alone) and be constant and patient in His worship. Do you know of any who is similar to Him?" 
• How this verse beautifully encompasses all three categories of Tawḥīd: 
 1. Tawḥīd al-Rubūbiyyah – “Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them…”
 2. Tawḥīd al-Ulūhiyyah – “so worship Him (Alone)…”
 3. Tawḥīd al-Asmā’ wa’l-Ṣifāt – “Do you know of any who is similar to Him?” (denial of likeness to His names or attributes)
• Shaykh ʿAbdullāh Lahmāmī (ḥafiẓahullāh) concluded the lesson by mentioning 20 characteristics that distinguish the people of Sunnah from the groups of misguidance.
