GHOSTCAST 014 - DESYN

The 5th installment of the Reptilian Mixes marks a change in the series, as for the first time in the Blockbuster franchise, the main protagonist is not a Reptilian, but a Doggo. Not just your usual good boï, but simply the best. 

Rafon (@rafon27) and the crew go way back. The mattress king quickly became a roommate, a best mate, a partner in parties, and co-host of Mulack Space Mixes. During these years we witnessed @ordinateuf co-founder translate his passion for music into pure dedication. First into digging, then into mixing, and through all that, into good old partying. Along the way, this work paid off, and this mix is the expression of it. 

It’s groovy, moody, and gets you slowly but surely into that kinky house frenzy you just wish huge speakers would blast in the morning hours of a dirty club. The mix is as aced as the Rafon aces his pasta: with tension, love, and style. He got the secret recipe, and oh boy it’s a good one: the mix « à la Rafon ». You’re going to ask for a refill, with extra tunes. And Parmigiano. 

We are really proud and moved to feature this mix in our series. Thank you for the music Rafon

For number 62, we're happy to welcome Swiss record collector and Folklor resident, O’Hana to the series. We met Adrien on a recent trip to Lausanne for Legram, a party in which he is closely affiliated with. He played the warm up on the night and we were instantly glued to the floor with his selection of classy records and slick mixing, all played with a big smile on his face. That’s what it’s all about. 

Fast forward a few months and we’re chuffed to have a mix from the man himself - we hope you enjoy the selections as much as we do!

Rolling in for the 13th edition of our NorthSouth podcast series is OG Frankfurt / Offenbach crew Phil Evans aka Jeff Pagers. Phil has been a long time favourite of ours, his slinky productions circle those areas of house and minimal that hit just right, and his label Pager that he runs alongside Markus Sommer always serves up the goodies. He is also behind a variety of different aliases and collaborations so you never really know when you could be listening to a bit of Phil. For some dance music fans, Hamish & Toby may be their new favourite DJs thanks to a recent US tour and excellent sets at festivals like Glastonbury, Dimensions, Houghton and Freerotation. 2022 was, after all, a breakthrough year for the UK duo. But in their own, close-knit world of Discogs fanatics and vinyl purists, Hamish Cole and Toby Wareham are admired and established names. They met while studying in Leeds, bonding over a shared love of wiggly bombs at countless clubs and hazy afterparties. They ran events (Butter Side Up, Dog Eat Dog), DJ’d tirelessly and continued to dig for obscure gems. Within a few years, they were both working full-time music jobs in London, booking Dimensions Festival (Hamish) and The Pickle Factory (Toby). (Hamish is now a director at Dimensions.) All in all, they’ve dedicated the past 15 years of their lives to dance music.

For all their behind-the-scenes work, Hamish & Toby’s true love is DJing together. They’re known for their long, expressive sets that go, in their own words, “all over the map.” Their RA Podcast, which was recorded live at Philadelphia party Subsurface in May, is a four-hour odyssey through golden-era house, tech house and UK garage. Proper party music, in other words. According to the duo, they were “fully locked in, as comfortable as we’ve ever felt DJing.” It really shows.
