Right Angle Records is the new imprint coming from Tom Dunne aka Mr. Fixie and Reece Hirst aka Regan, the brand has been operating as an events series in Newcastle, Northern England for the past few years called Boxed welcoming the likes of Tristan Da Cunha, Rich NXT and Adam Shelton to its events. 

Now pushing things forward with the launch of the imprint, Right Angle will showcase its modern twist on classic house sounds with material from its crew, while welcoming in remixers who have been inspiration for its sound.Leading the release is ‘Track & Trace’, fusing robust, shuffled drums and plucked organ hits with an amalgamation of swirling atmospheric textures, resonant tones and a bumpy bass hook.

 London’s Silverlining reworks ‘The Leyton House Track’ next, laying down skippy hats, crunchy claps and stuttering synth work as the foundation while hypnotic vocal chants, a menacing bass hook and tension building strings further fuel the hypnotic groove.Opening the flip-side is ‘Purple Gloves’, shifting the focus over to off-kilter breaks, mesmeric pads and choppy acid-tinged bass stabs before Jeigo offers up his interpretation of ‘Switcheroo’, bringing dynamic, organic drums into the limelight amongst ethereal, textural swells and an entrancing, resonant arpeggio line to wind down the release.

Hottrax mainstay David Berrie returns to the label this March with his ‘Warped Connection’ EP. 

With previous releases on Hot Creations, Cuttin’ Headz, Vatos Locos, and Play It Say It alongside appearances at institutions such as DC10, Space Miami and Output, New York DJ and producer David Berrie’s reputation within the US and beyond continues to build. Returning to his Hottrax family, Berrie delivers the groove-laden three-tracker ‘Warped Connection’ EP. 

"This EP draws elements from the past and future. The front track 'Warp 2000' was put together at the start of 2020 ironically right before, what felt like to me, entering a real time warp into a different world". - David Berrie.

Swinging basslines and tumbling percussion kick things off as ‘Warp 2000’ couples stirring vocals and timely stabs, before ‘Body Motions’ throws electro-infused synths and loopy vocal samples over rumbling low-ends. To close, ‘Mass Connections’ serves up a trippy cut as spaced out pads convulse around shuffling percussion, frolicking keys and warped samples.

Jamie Jones launches his new subsidiary label of Hot Creations, HOTTRAX with a three track EP of upfront dance floor business. The label will be dedicated to a more underground dance floor orientated aesthetic, only for the headstrong!

This three track features phenomenal 'Changes'. Jamie has championed it all summer and as soon as you hear it you'll realize why. It's a heady hypnotic brew of oscillator-funk and ghetto-groove, arpeggiating synths bubble hypnotically under the rising ebb and flow of the melody as infectious groove drives you on.. the truth is we are all going through changes!

On the flip and Jamie jacks the groove on the 'Road To The Studio'. Incessant chanting and looped vocals are cleverly layered upon each other creating a impending sense of explosive anticipation as the rhythm effortlessly builds to maximum effect. Finally, the irresistibly charming 'No Rush' plays upon retro garage feel while the minor keys serve to create a sense eeriness on the floor. A great closure to a superb three track EP, and what a way to kick off the new label in style. Watch out for HOTTRAX releases in 2013.
