Tastemaking platform Hottrax, run by house music authority Jamie Jones, already boasts a discography including Patrick Topping, East End Dubs and Yousef. The fourth part of their ‘Tripleution’ Various Artist EP series sits in good company, merging new artists and longtime label stalwarts for another stacked tracklist as it gears up for the release of its next edition. 

With cleverly sampled instrumentals and plucked sonic strings, Endor’s ‘Fakez’ kicks off proceedings, having previously guested on highly esteemed imprints such as Solid Grooves, Repopulate Mars, Defected and Toolroom. Self-taught producer Cristian Viviano steps up next with ‘Mastafunka’, with its strumming bass notes and groovy drum programming. The German duo Raumakustik, Sola and Repopulate Mars associate Clyde P and multifaceted musician Jil Tanner join forces on the jagged beat notes of ‘Come With Me’, punching through with pumping breakdowns and a weighty bassline and highlighting Hottrax’s penchant for underground cuts.

Hot on the heels of another impressive Ibiza residency across the summer, Jamie Jones’ iconic Paradise invites  Argentinian-born, Barcelona-based Gruuve to join its growing label roster. The rising DJ/producer hasn’t looked  back since his breakthrough ‘Wrong File’ EP on Deeperfect in 2014, catching the attention of some of the  industry’s biggest names, including Marco Carola, Michael Bibi and De La Swing. Now boasting an extensive  catalogue of releases on Glasgow Underground, Lapsus, MUSE and his own imprint MUUV, he steps up for his  most significant release to date and joins the Paradise family with his ‘Without You’ EP, perfectly timed to coincide  with their annual ADE event. 

“I think this EP says a lot about my career path, and I'm so proud that it will be released on Paradise. I say  this because I always produce music from scratch without track references or templates and try to be as  authentic as possible.  

I produced 'Without You' around 2021, just when I started playing with 303 basslines. My main goal was to  create an underground beat with groovy percussive elements and a catchy vocal to give it more  personality. The synth arp on the breaks adds the perfect dark touch! 'Sher Der Der' was made thinking of  Paradise. My objective was to create a more energetic track, so I put a lot of congas in there and again  used a 303 bassline. I also spent some time trying to find a vocal hook to fit this beat, and I think it was a  good choice." - Gruuve.  

‘Without You’ is a slinking house cut loaded with big synth stabs and warping chimes over rhythmic drums for a  wonky, tripped-out track. ‘Sher Der Der’ then strips things back to a thumping house groove with deep male  chants and ethereal chords, switching up the atmosphere to create the perfect dancefloor weapon. 

Gruuve ‘Without You’ EP drops via Paradise Music on 20th October 2023.

Title track 'scherzo' is an intense and festive house track crafting pure joy for the club, composed to capture the energy of the South American summer. ‘LOOK AROUND YOU’ has sipped the ambrosia of nostalgia, and elevates a hopeful mantra knit with delicate synths, bridging organic house & electronica. The two tracks complement one another in bringing you to a place neither here nor there – simply floating.

Jamie Jones launches his new subsidiary label of Hot Creations, HOTTRAX with a three track EP of upfront dance floor business. The label will be dedicated to a more underground dance floor orientated aesthetic, only for the headstrong!

This three track features phenomenal 'Changes'. Jamie has championed it all summer and as soon as you hear it you'll realize why. It's a heady hypnotic brew of oscillator-funk and ghetto-groove, arpeggiating synths bubble hypnotically under the rising ebb and flow of the melody as infectious groove drives you on.. the truth is we are all going through changes!

On the flip and Jamie jacks the groove on the 'Road To The Studio'. Incessant chanting and looped vocals are cleverly layered upon each other creating a impending sense of explosive anticipation as the rhythm effortlessly builds to maximum effect. Finally, the irresistibly charming 'No Rush' plays upon retro garage feel while the minor keys serve to create a sense eeriness on the floor. A great closure to a superb three track EP, and what a way to kick off the new label in style. Watch out for HOTTRAX releases in 2013.
