It is hard to imagine the London underground before Enzo Siragusa minted the FUSE brand. This is a bold claim, but it is a totally fair comment given the mark that both Enzo and his brainchild have had on today’s current tech house sound. What is even more impressive is that it didn't seem so long ago we were discussing FUSE turning 10, now another landmark is on the horizon and even after 15 years there is no slowing down. It is impossible to discuss Enzo without heaping praise on FUSE, but there is much more to this unassuming raver than just his clubbing brand. His roots as a raver still informs everything that he does both in front and behind the decks and we doubt that this will ever change. It is impossible to discuss Romanian artist Vlad Caia and not mention Amphia, SIT, and Amorf. All these different entities are intrinsically linked, but they most certainly do not define Vlad. Like his aforementioned brothers, Vlad is an accomplished solo artist and his critically received long players on Amphia are a mainstay in any discerning Ro lover collection. The demure appearance of Romanian artist Praslea belies his deep involvement in the music industry. With his name appearing on top events, especially in his home town of Bucharest, circa 2007, Florin Cunțan is a certified don of our scene. Having been inducted into the [a:pia:r] clique from an early age his “Jurnal De Bord” EP way back in 2009 he has hardly been prolific, but this is not where his real talent lies. With his solo credentials above reproach, it is par for the course for Praslea and his peers to perform together even at the biggest of events. So, it is hardly surprising that two artists from this family should join forces on the regular and that partnership is Praslesh. Not wishing to over comment on this duo, this does, however, go some way to explain the level of skill that Florin commands. Few artists command the legacy that Italian artist Alex Picone has at his disposal. Having long since relocated to Barcelona, Alex is perhaps one of the busiest men in the business. Between running Small Black Dots, both record store and distribution arm, he also runs the interconnected seekers label and series of parties, and then there is also the artist. Alex is a regular face on the touring circuit and should be sought out whenever his name appears on a lineup near you. His sheer experience in the game is worthy alone of the many plaudits he receives, but it is his tenacity and willingness to keep striving for the sonic audience. [continue reading at...
