Hello guys

After a sabbatical at the beginning of the year, today we begin our season on Podcasts. Our guest comes from Romania. An excellent curator at his record label and also with historic performances at festivals such as Sunwaves Festival.

One of the most respected DJs in his country, he has been spreading the Romanian music scene around the world for a long time. With stints at record labels such as his own, Atipic Records, Arpiar, RORA and many others.

He masterfully gave us two presentations at this year's Brazilian carnival.

This mix was recorded live at D-EDGE in Sao Paulo.

It is impossible to discuss Romanian artist Vlad Caia and not mention Amphia, SIT, and Amorf. All these different entities are intrinsically linked, but they most certainly do not define Vlad. Like his aforementioned brothers, Vlad is an accomplished solo artist and his critically received long players on Amphia are a mainstay in any discerning Ro lover collection. The demure appearance of Romanian artist Praslea belies his deep involvement in the music industry. With his name appearing on top events, especially in his home town of Bucharest, circa 2007, Florin Cunțan is a certified don of our scene. Having been inducted into the [a:pia:r] clique from an early age his “Jurnal De Bord” EP way back in 2009 he has hardly been prolific, but this is not where his real talent lies. With his solo credentials above reproach, it is par for the course for Praslea and his peers to perform together even at the biggest of events. So, it is hardly surprising that two artists from this family should join forces on the regular and that partnership is Praslesh. Rhadoo is one of the most important figures in Romanian minimal scene, as well as the underground scene. His DJ and production skills knows no boundaries. His style blends the old with the new, adding new elements to modern electronic music. In 2007, he founded the label [a:rpia:r] with his trusted friends Petre Inspirescu and Raresh. The label’s reputation grew rapidly worldwide and is now a solid platform for artists and music connoisseurs.

Creating worlds never seen before and the constant return to nature as the ultimate designer and source of inspiration are the prosperous obsessions shaping the artistic practice of Silviu Vișan a.k.a Dreamrec. Growing up around his artisan father who was building oversized toys for an amusement park turned into the perfect context to learn about the emotional experience of immersive environments and the secrets of morphing a place into an event. Not to mention it was the starting point for the self-thought wizard to try his hand at DIY magic either bringing joy or conjuring horror. Years later using videofeedback and layers of state-of-the-art software as tools to explore the unusual time&space where computers become genuinely unpredictable and the output becomes a fluid stream of pareidolia, Dreamrec is channeling in international festivals, clubs and art spaces his own visual aesthetic: immersive, mesmerizing and fictional as if visitors / partygoers physically stepped into another dimension. Between running Small Black Dots, both record store and distribution arm, he also runs the interconnected seekers label and series of parties, and then there is also the artist. Alex is a regular face on the touring circuit and should be sought out whenever his name appears on a lineup near you.
