We would like you all to give a gregarious “Great To Meet Ya’” to Daptone’s newest sensation, The Reigning Rocksteady Kings of Queens, New York: The Frightnrs. In search of the perfect piece of veal to create yet another variation of the schnitzel, we've sent out a team to New York and followed up on a lead regarding taking us all the way to the vibe alleys of Kingston, Jamaica. The results are just as confusing as they are satisfying, since it turns out that heat, tranquillity as well as endless traffic jams are all factors accountable for a nice and tender slice of deliciousness. The island’s variation of uptempo deep tissue massages, as opposed to the confusingly more laidback style of the New York method both make for a great preparation, and are now served on both sides of this schnitzel before you. As always vinyl only and limited to a number that will most likely serve most of you, but probably not all of you.

Rising Australian producer Jad & The is back on Toy Tonics with a stack of smooth and cleverly constructed tracks found on his 'Strings Never Win' EP, including the disco-tinged title track primed for the dancefloor.

Following releases on Mike Simonetti's 2MR, Sonar Kollektiv and Centre Source Records, @jad-lee has been steadily making his presence felt within the underground community focusing on soulful house. His latest work touches on multiples aspects of his sound with motifs of balearic rhythms and retro melodies. The new material is definitely right at home on Toy Tonics.

Drumcode has become a label synonymous with some of the most-cutting edge and forward-thinking techno over the last 20 years. Their artists include both emerging and established names, and one of those well recognised is Enrico Sangiuliano. Now announcing the very first concept album of his career.

The prolific Italian producer has been catapulted into the limelight after the runaway success of his past releases, and now Biomorph is born. 

A very special concept album designed to take the listener on a journey of evolution. A musical adaptation describing how biological and technological advances over numerous generations of time have all started from the same first step in our own biological journey.

Divided into 4 parts, Organisms opens with atmospheric tones, gradually blending complex textures and timbres to begin the evolutional process. The beginning of this section combines full sounding arrangements before stripping it all back to basics. From here it dissolves into the atmosphere. Organisms then progresses into a break-beat influenced, down tempo track using synths to add complexity to the straight, broken rhythms.

Galactic, futuristic elements are found in both tracks in Cosmic Forces. Upbeat, groovy, electronic synths resonate, before ‘Hidden T’ brings the tension to get things pumped up with stratospheric swirls and twirls to lay down one of the most mind meltingly deep drops.

Metamorphosis is mysterious, its opening beat is a deep and piercing tone that sends the listener into a sensory awareness of their surroundings before breaking into a fully charged, techno track, with Enrico’s trademark sounds and textures.

All evolution has an ending.

Two Probabilities shows the positive, starting out evocative and emotional, with a gentle harmony, gazing towards a ‘New Dawn’. On the other side of the spectrum lies the negative. This is influenced with a rhythm that articulates the beat of death, mathematical, cold and metallic in texture, it shows the unsustainability of its nature, with a hectic, anxious break beat influenced ending.

The digital version also features a bonus track; 'A Further Existence'.

With its 90’s flavour kicking things off and its powerful 909 groove, ‘Raveolution’ opens the release in style. ‘Forget It’ heightens the rave atmosphere with its continual rolling stabs and a sultry vocals sample.

‘No Gravity’ takes us to the dark side, with its relentless groove and deep chord sequence creating an unforgettable hook. Luca closes the EP with ‘Shimmer’, a fresh and hypnotic tool of peak-time BPM perfection.

It doesn’t get much bigger than this: Adam Beyer links up with Green Velvet and Drumcode’s outstanding rising star Layton Giordani for a debut collaboration.

Some musical partnerships feel fated. Both fans of one another’s work, for years Adam Beyer and Green Velvet had discussed writing music together. In turn, Beyer’s protégé Layton Giordani had admired the Chicagoan’s work for as long as he could remember. When the 25-year-old found himself playing alongside the green mohawked legend at Belfast’s Shine, the spark and subsequent friendship was immediate. With the links now set in place, it was only a matter of time before the trio’s creative chemistry would manifest musically.

‘Space Date’ was conceived organically and birthed quickly. Propelled by Green Velvet’s trademark vocal hypnotism, the triumvirate combine to craft a pumping intergalactic slice of techno laced in melody that’s highlighted sets by Beyer at Awakenings, Ushuaia and also EDC Vegas when Green Velvet dropped it to a raucous response. The track is complimented by ‘Rome Future’, the product of a year-long series of productions between Beyer and Giordani. Deftly combining crisp drum work, catchy vocal effects and a powerful bassline melody that gives the track an almighty kick, it will be familiar to many who’ve followed their sets over recent months.

Born in Jeutyn, Alaska, Thomas made her breakthrough as a cast member of the original Broadway mid 70's production, The Wiz. She sang backing vocals for Louis Armstrong, Dizzie Gillespsie, Stevie Wonder (Too High), B.B. King, James Brown, Cat Stevens, Carly Simon, Diana Ross, Grover Washington Jr., Jim Croce, Kiss etc. and was featured on numerous TV commercials, including Pepsi and Campbell's Soup, before she released her debut single, the triumphant "Shoot Me (With Your Love)" in 1978.

It was one expensive production listing 40+ musicians on the credits. The bassline is ruling, the horns section compliments the synthesized funk but it’s when the cowbells come in that the track erupts. Thomas oscillated between breathy whispering and loud-voiced vocals showing the dynamics of her sensational raw talent. Inevitably it became an international dance smash stirring up much challenging floors like the Paradise Garage. It was even nominated for “Best R&B Single of the Year” at the 1979 BMA Awards.

In 1979 she released her magnificent album “Midnight Rendezvous” but she got caught up in the disco backlash that occurred soon after… 
Sadly she fell ill and lost her battle with cancer in 1984, at the age of 33.

On this edit I fix up the track giving it an underground built up by remodeling the intro and serving up the notorious cowbells from the beginning, refashioning her erotic vocals, extending the middle break, providing extra bass+beats and recreating the frenetic housy outro. It is noticeable that the bpm aren’t keeping up a certain pace in the original and I did lots of  amendment but also tried to keep some of this sweet “inconsistency”, as it is essential in the genuine cut.
