“Me costó meterme en el mood ya que llevaba mucho tiempo sin pinchar pero después de unos intentos entré en calor y no encontraba el momento de parar. Al final fueron tres horas. Pensé en hacer un edit y cortar por algún lado pero ya que lo tenía grabado, por qué cortarlo. Os lo comparto tal y como quedó”.  El estilo, el de siempre de Refracted: techno como idea y conducto más que como sonido fácilmente etiquetable. Música de baile en la que los ritmos en capas actúan casi a nivel subepidérmico, neuronal donde los paisajes sonoros en movimiento y evolución adquieren una fisicidad táctil.

Para el productor y dj afincado en Berlín, la música electrónica, y el techno en particular, es el medio elegido para encontrar su voz para conectar, más allá de un entretenimiento formulista o una banda sonora para bailar. Born in Valencia and based in Berlin, Daniel Kyo has been for 20 years now releasing music non-stop, including works on labels such as Hivern Discs and Nitsa Traxx, which has made him gain wide respect in the European electronic music scene. Since the recent creation of his alias CØRE he has been deeply immersed in the hypnotic side of techno with releases out on Norite, Edit Select and Sungate, to name a few. As a DJ, he’s played all around the globe from Tokyo to New York, as well as including clubs like Panorama Bar (Berlin) and festivals like Primavera Sound (Barcelona).

Next up we have Neel, co-founder of the excellent Spazio Disponibile label (along with Donato) and 1 half of the superb Voices From The Lake (also with Donato). 
Rome has always had a tendency to output really decent techno over the decades and these guys are very much at the forefront of it at this time.

Casper who runs BleeD was a really important ally when doing these 3 room parties over the years and always brought super interesting off-kilter artists to the line-ups at each one he curated, this one was no different.

Super tripped out techno. Another driving fave of mine for sure.

Luca Mortellaro a.k.a Lucy is one of the driving forces in the European techno scene, being the founder of the established Stroboscopic Artefacts imprint and having a strong back catalogue of releases under his name that sit comfortably in the world of innovative, hypnotic techno. Yet, describing Lucy in such manner does not fully encompass his current goings-on. Moving away from a darker and more dystopian edge, Lucy is moving towards a warmer sound instead and presenting a fundamental change in his output. Stroboscopic Artefacts recently launched a new 10-inch series, named Totem, which marks the label going into this distinct space with the first release by Lucy himself, to be followed by another release by L.B. Dub Corp later in the year. Lucy’s Truancy Volume showcases the change in approach travelling through an eclectic range of music. He describes the mix as similar to the Totem series – to be something more physical, as something that makes him move, featuring tracks by the likes of Eomac, Actress and two forthcomings of Lucy himself taking the listener on an hour and fifteen minutes long journey. We caught up with Lucy to discuss change in direction, both in his label, as a selector and as a consumer, his Totem release “Tarkomania” and his collaborative work with the likes of Rødhåd and Rrose.
