RA.1000 launches with Theo Parrish, live at fabric: a vanishingly rare club mix from the king of deep crates and impossible transitions.

There are DJ sets and then there are Theo sets. No matter how many times you've caught him in action, every time still feels like the first. Running hot, levels smoking, isolator working over time. You think you know dance music? Think again.

Parrish's debut on the RA Podcast is a milestone for the series, one we've sought for over 15 years. So it was only right that Theo led off our 1000th celebrations. Recorded live at fabric last December as part of RA's party with the London club for their 25th anniversary, this three-hour segment documents the crescendo of his eight-hour marathon. 

The Detroit legend doesn't release mixes often, and when he does, they're usually studio recordings: think NTS shows, his 100% Detroit edition of DJ-Kicks or classic tapes Body (1997) and Methods of Movement (2000). A capture of the Sound Signature boss on the dancefloor is hard to come by.

Sure, there's galvanising build-ups and crowd-pleasers, but laced throughout a Parrish beatdown are rarities designed to shock the system. In a business dominated by marketing, the vinyl master towers above thanks to a relentless hunger for lustrous melodies, moods and textures of all stripes, which he and he alone can fold into an inspiring and exhilarating joyride.

On RA.1000, blissful reggae precedes new wave disco; '80s R&B morphs into synthy techno; bleepy Chicago jack makes way for a poignant vocal ballad. It's Theo through and through. Once again, he proves that anything and everything is possible with the right records.

DC Salas is a Belgian DJ and producer from Brussels with Peruvian roots. Known for weaving house, acid, techno, goa, early '90s progressive, and New Beat into his sets, DC Salas crafts eclectic journeys driven by high energy and hypnotic grooves. As a producer, he has released standout EPs and remixes on respected labels such as Live at Robert Johnson, Semi Delicious, R.A.N.D Muzik, Time Passages, Correspondant, Relish, Kill The DJ, Futureboogie, and B-Pitch Control.  2023 was marked by critical acclaim with his "Tio EP" on Semi Delicious and "Pressure EP," a collaboration between R.A.N.D Muzik and Echocentric. These releases received enthusiastic support from DJ Mag, Bandcamp, Avalon Emerson, Job Jobse, DJ Masda, Spray, Kendal, Mr. Ho, Parris DJ, Quest, Evan Baggs, Binh, Ivan Smagghe, and more. 2025 promises to be another impactful year, with upcoming EPs slated for Binh’s Time Passages, Jen Cardini’s Correspondant, and anticipated releases on Cocoon and Eya Records. No introductions necessary for installment number two in our series of recordings from the booth. Enclosed is just under three hours of hard music from two members of UR that we were lucky enough to have come through at the end of March.

The recording is split into two parts. The high-octane, acidic, psycho stuff in this section comes courtesy of Dex Nomadico, who played during the first half of the party. And the raw, thumping, soulful sounds in the other section are taken from the last hour or so of Mark Flash's set – just as daylight broke through. 

Big respect and praise due to the whole UR family for letting us air these out and to all the dancers who gave this one their energy.

Underground Resistance is probably the most important Detroit record label since Motown: their sound and attitude emerged in the early '90s as the most uncompromising one from the Motorcity, it was pivotal in shaping US and European Techno, started the resurgence of 90's Electro, but most of all indelebly marked the consciousness of thousands of people around the world who share their messages of resistance and hope.
And last but not least, they did so many amazing records!

So, 30 years has passed since UR-001 came out in 1990.
Since UR and 'Mad' Mike Banks were so influential for me, not just sonically but mostly on the attitude side of things, I decided to go thru all my 12"s and make a retrospective tribute mix to celebrate this anniversary.

At first I wanted to pick 30 tracks only and keep it compact but so many great ones were left out.. so I just started and at the end I used 60+ tracks! Almost all the classics are there, plus a fair share of lesser known tunes which really shine as well in my opinion. All from the UR catalogue only. No Z-tracks unfortunately :)

I really hope to have done justice to their sound, and I hope as well that the listeners will enjoy the ride, have the chance to discover some amazing music, and maybe feel the energy and pride and love that Mike Banks and the UR crew put into the music and pressed into the grooves.
