When we first started our Mixtape Series, little did we think that we would continue onto 50 Episodes, never mind recruit some of the best talent around to be part of it. The series has certainly evolved beautifully and it must be said that it's a true honour to have some of our biggest heroes and selectors joining us too. It’s people like Mano Le Tough who make DJing into an art form, as you can tell from the mix he has done for us ahead of our festival in São Paolo this weekend. The connection he makes with dance floors are always as deep as can be; with a real sense of melody, emotion and song like structure, he crafts sets that make a lasting impact on those who hear them. This has resulted in him being one of the busiest DJs on the circuit, on a par with deep house heroes Ame and Dixon, who he plays with regularly. As a producer, his smooth and mellifluous sounds land on labels like Permanent Vacation and more recently Pampa, which is a perfect fit for his curious sense of melody.  

This week’s mix is an hour of deep house that rumbles through a humid jungle, zones you out with hypnotic vocal tracks and encourages you to day dream amongst distant pads. Even when things turn more towards a techno groove later on, you still remain deeply entrenched in the groove, marching on through to a trippy climax that gently stirs you out of your hypnosis with a real celestial charm.

Fresh off the heels of his highly anticipated double EP ‘Wuzzelbud FF’ - a “stylistic follow-up” to his 2004 debut album ‘Wuzzelbud KK’ - Robag Wruhme has thrown together a wonderfully elaborate mix for the next installment of our In Session series.

Speaking on the mix he's delivered, Wruhme explains: "To me, it's really boring to simply mix one track into the next one because you can't to convey the energy of a specific situation from a club into the living room. Therefore, I put the ladder really high when I do mixes. Ever since the first one back in 2005 for the festival 'Sonne, Mond & Sterne,' I used additional sample fragments and layers. In addition, I only use some parts of a track and not the entire thing. The result is a symbiosis of sounds and moments."
